OK, I’m posting this as a rumor… I’m here at WDW now and have excellent sources so thought I would at least share. Disney recently met with Gold Mobility and had “conversations”. Make of that what you will A change in primary Disney vendor would definitely be welcome, especially if it involves Gold.

Two HYPOTHETICAL questions.

I wonder if Gold is negotiating to replace Scooterbug or negotiating terms to use bell services.

Personally, I’d be happy to pay 10% more if it meant being able to utilize bell services for pickup/dropoff!!

Scooter Bug currently has a contract but social media reviews are indeed important… in this day and age it would be naive to imagine they are not. Whose to say any contract gets renewed or that other options are not being explored? I find it interesting but logical that Disney might explore alternatives. The company motto is “Disney Makes Money” so I expect they will proceed accordingly. And, yes, I would pay extra for Gold Mobility Disney resort drop off/pick up… though I tip their personnel anyway so not an increase for me.

Bell services is a tipped position. I tip the bellhop who retrieves my ECV at the Swan, Portofino etc.

This is speculation based on a rumor.

Interesting tidbit:
Gold has shared (on Facebook) photos of their scooters in front of the Yacht Club and the Boardwalk Inn today. Scrolling back I see a few more photos.
Maybe something maybe nothing. We shall see.

DH is aware of what Disney has previously wanted for Gold to be the preferred vendor and honestly unless they can get far more favorable terms, it is very unlikely to happen. But it is possible Disney might be open to more favorable terms if Scooter Bug has been causing enough issues. It may also open the door for them to be able to once again come into the parks more easily when there are issues that can't just be addressed over the phone.
