Interesting DVC deposits INTO RCI

The TUG Sightings board is abuzz with news of a major deposit of availability of DVC units into RCI with checkin dates from January to April 2014. The numbers given (all in RCI Points Inventory, nothing in Weeks) are:

BWV - 38 units
SSR - 26 units
OKW - 20 units
AKV - 40 units
BCV - 20 units

All of the units are either 1 BR or 2 BR -- haven't seen any mention of either studios or 3 BR.

Those numbers may be inflated somewhat, but even if they are it looks like a LOT of DVCers are exchanging through RCI.

So if these are not in weeks, how do you interpret the "units"?

If units were weeks, 140ish divided by 4 months = 30ish weeks per month which isn't all that much across all the weeks available in a month across all DVC resorts!

Sorry Bill. By "units," I meant villas - 1 BR, 2 BR, etc.

And the Points/Weeks distinction refers to the two different inventories that comprise RCI. I believe DVC deposits actual weeks, but some RCI customers get them from one inventory and others get them from the other. People who use RCI will understand the difference.

You are right that 140-something is not a staggering number of weeks considering the number of villas in all of the DVC resorts, but this deposit seems to be the largest single deposit anyone has seen from DVC. And this is just one deposit on one day...not the total of all deposits that will be made for that time period.

Most interesting, to me, is the number of BWV and BCV units deposited. The other resorts might be a developer deposit, but I can't imagine that DVD owns a large excess of BCV points.

Wow, I just checked and you could stay over 2months at SSR in a 1 bedroom with the weeks deposited!

I don't know, but I have read several postings on different sites saying DVC does not deposit developer inventory into RCI...that they rent it for cash, and only deposit owner deposits.

True? Not true? I have no idea.

Have a week with the HGVC also really don't use it much, I deposited the the weeks in RCI. Just booked a week in late Feb at OKW in a 2 bedrm using my RCI pts.... Go figure
