OK, now I'll take a shot at dreaming.
There may actually be some merit to the "high rise" comment, based strictly on current DVC sales. If nothing else, I think the planned Phase 3 at SSR is an indication that DVC can no longer afford nickle and dime properties throughout WDW. The tiny little wings they built at WL and BC were each sold out in about a year's time. They then went nearly a year with NO available points to sell--and the same thing is apparently happening again. All four Phase 1 buildings at SSR are sold out, and until #5 opens, they are offering big discounts on points or including Developer's Points as an incentive.
I've said before that I think the next DVC resort will be absolutely huge. At least equal to the 800+ rooms they are putting at SSR.
If they were to make CR the home of 800-1000 DVC rooms, it would have a fantastic impact on the entire program. It would probably reduce some of the strain placed on BCV and VWL due to the current high demand. It would give all of us a wonderful new location to book. And, it would give DVC a property they could sell at record high prices.
Honestly, the CR tower doesn't impress me a whole lot. But a large volume of rooms on the monorail line, within walking distance of MK, would immediately become THE destination of choice for many, many members.
The proposed Eagle Pines resort would be...nice. But many people seem to favor location above and beyond any one single feature in the DVC resorts. SSR and EP would add tens of thousands of new DVC members to the program, and many would continue battling for BCV, BWV and VWL when available. CR would give the program another destination of choice--hopefully a HUGH destination--and ease some of those burdens across the program.
