Interesting article about HongKong Disneyland

It's a shame there's so much controvery around the park. My DH was able to visit Hong Kong Disney in October, and said it was quite nice. Here are a few photos... a little strange to see "Main Street USA" in China!

One reason why globialization does not work. Everything does not fit everywhere. I'm sure eventually it will all get worked out.

I immediately opened this thread because while
visiting WDW this past April we were happily surrounded
with many HKDis trainees!
It was really neat, so much fun to talk to them,
and so sweet, too, that they seemed just as thrilled to talk to us - LOL!

Kathy, thanks for the pics!
Did anyone else notice how small the Castle is??

I'm just back from Hong Kong Disneyland, and this is the first thread that I see. It helps to explain one thing that happened during our trip: Disney dropped the ticket prices for the locals (Hong Kong residents) by 15-20 %. The old week-end price was 350 Hong Kong dollars, or about USD 42, and the new price is 300 or about USD 36; the old weekday price was 295 Hong Kong dollars, or about USD 35, and the new price is 245, or about USD 30.

The reduction is in force for a month. Disney called the ticket discount a "thank you" to Hong Kong residents, and also said that it ties in to the 50th anniversary of the opening of the park in Anaheim. The local press, however, suggests that the reason is the lower-than-expected attendance. According to the local newspaper (South China Morning Post, Tuesday, November 8), attendance at midday on a weekend in September - presumably a week or two after the opening on September 12 - was just 11,000, which is only a third of the park's capacity.

We weren't complaining, though. It was great to be able to wander around the park at leisure, with few lines anywhere. (I'll post a trip report separately.)

Kathy, you took some great pictures!
