My parents own Wyndham and are interested in doing a trip to WDW with my family sometime in the next couple years. I have no idea where to start with this. Can someone point me in the right direction? We'd be looking at an early November trip. I have no idea the timeline of booking things, or even where we would want to stay. I would love any advice. We are Disneyland people and need some guidance.

ETA: We would want a 3br I think. Four adults and three kids. Maybe we could squeeze into a 2br.

You are going to run into problems looking for anything beyond a 1 BR at SSR. As of trading into WDW you will have to go thru RCI. To do that I would ask your parents how RCI works with Wyndham (points system or weeks) with the points system they already have an RCI acct. Weeks system they would have to obtain an RCI acct. Once they have an RCI acct, RCI controls the trading into Disney! You would probably want to do an ongoing search for WDW thru RCI. It is not that hard once you understand how RCI works. There is a problem with obtaining a specific week into Disney, that you will need luck and enough trade in value to trade into Disney!

Bonnet Creek would probably suit your needs better than Disney and it is part on the Wyndham point system!

Most of the units apparently released to RCI tend to be 1BR units. That you want to go in DVC high season make getting a GV via trade especially doubtful.

I know Bonnet Creek is a good option. We'd just really like to stay on property if possible.

Your best bet is to book Wyndham's Bonnet Creek property directly through Wyndham (not through RCI).

Edited to add: Alternative resource, the TimeShare User's Group (tugbbs.com) has a member's only board called "Sightings" that may be willing to help you. They track the patterns of DVC weeks spotted through RCI very closely and can likely predict which resorts and unit types are offered at different points of the year and the related costs (RCI Points values or RCI Weeks Trade Power Units) required for the exchange. TUG Membership runs $15/yr for the first year and less for renewals.

You won't likely get a 3BR DVC via RCI -- but may want to consider the 2BR or even two 1BR units.

Or Wyndham's Reunion Resort.

Reunion is only a few minutes further away from WDW than Bonnet Creek - 15-20 minute drive to any theme park. Reunion is ALL 3 bedroom villas with full kitchen and balcony. The bedrooms are King, King, double-double and there is a Queen pullout sleeper, and there are three baths. You would also get access to Reunion's waterpark (see Google Images).

I agree with the others that trying an RCI exchange for a DVC 3 BR is completely unrealistic. There aren't that many GV's in DVC, they're in high demand, and although I have heard of someone getting one once via RCI, that was several years ago.

As others have said, for the last year or so, DVC has been depositing almost exclusively 1 BRs, so even getting a 2 BR wouldn't be likely at all.

I used my Dad's Worldmark (by Wyndham) points to book the first week of November (Jersey Week) at Bonnet Creek last year without any problems. I think I booked it about 6 or 7 months out. We did have a 1 BR which is perhaps easier to get than a 2 or 3 BR. We were impressed with the resort and really enjoyed our stay.

Oh, yeah ... I keep forgetting about Reunion! It sounds great.

That was me ... back in 2009. The exchange landscape has changed many times since!

Thanks for the input. We'll weigh our options and talk about it. Maybe doing two 1br units would work.

As noted, you won't get anything larger than a 1BR given the current DVC deposit patterns.

This can work, but you are likely only going to have four sleeping surfaces, two of which are queen pull outs, so the adults will have to be couples, and two of the three kids will have to share a sofa bed. It will cost you about 210K Wyndham points, plus about $630 in fees. You will also almost certainly have to limit yourself to SSR if you want both 1BRs at the same resort.

As you go forward, join TUG. It's a great resource.

There's always the possibility of getting one but one both units. Remember there is an exchange fee AND Extra $95 resort services fee paid to Disney. So 2 exchanges would cost two exchange fees plus two $190 extra plus the Wyndham points. If you're flexible you have a better chance and it's possible you might get a 2 BR but as noted, most of the deposits lately have been 1 BR and most SSR. You might just put in for a 2 BR over a 1-2 yr period and see what happens. But that assumes you aren't tied to school calendars and can plan at 3-6 months out or less.

Brian, I am not familiar with the Wyndham points system, but does the points requirements change for a Disney trade-in depending on the season? I know with the weeks system the TPU's for a Disney trade-in can range from 27 - 54 TPU's depending on the season or week.

Yes, it does. But, most times of the year you'd want to visit with kids are 105K/1BR. There are a couple weeks here and there that are 126K. Anything else is pretty deep offseason.

Thank you. Didn't know that, I am surprised that the weeks varies so widely but the points are a bit more stable.

In Wyndham (as with most mini-systems) exchange values are averaged across a region, and tend not to vary resort-by-resort within the same area. Very different from straight weeks.

If you get two DVC units -- of any size -- with Wyndham, you will pay $219 for each unit exchange fee to RCI + $95 for each unit to DVC at checkin. So your total cash outlay would be $628, and that doesn't even consider the cost of your parents points.

You'd be WAY ahead of the game using the Wyndham points for a 3 bedroom at Wyndham Bonnet Creek or Wyndham Reunion.

There are not currently any 3 or 4 BRs available for early November at Bonnet Creek -- but there ARE 3 BRs available at Reunion, starting on November 11 for 165,000 points...which is far fewer points than you'd spend for two 1 BR exchanges to DVC (+$628) IF you could get an exchange.

And just to confirm: 1BRs in Orlando via Wyndham's RCI portal are 105K each checking in either of the first two weeks of November of 2016. Expect future years to be similar.

For BG I don't believe they vary at all since the grid is for season color and villa size along with weekend vs weekday and location.

Good to know! Thank you.

Bluegreen essentially mirrors the generic points chart when trading RCI points to non points resorts or when doing points for deposit for non RCI Points resorts into a RCI points accounts.
