Interested in Selling my DVC

Getting those types of prices on a resale right now is going to be tough. With DVC running a promo at $ 86.00 per point with a member referral is having an inpack on the resale market. There are a number of resale brokers out there like TTS and A Timeshare Broker. Good luck

Based on current resales that is going to be tough right now like previous poster said with disney discounting the way they are you need to find someone with no clue

There are two ways to sell:

Go through a broker - like Tom Yeary with the link above. You'll pay a comission (I know it was 12% with A Timeshare Store when we BOUGHT five years ago, cause I asked in case we'd need to resell). That will make it nearly impossible to break even, but will give you probably the best coverage on getting it sold.

Sell it yourself. You can do that through the timeshare users group, or eBay, or ads in the newspaper.

What resort is it. If it is BCV you could get that price. But any other resort, I don't think you stand a chance really. Sorry. Good luck :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear you are going to sell :(. However, the good news is that DVC points are probably one of the very few timeshares that actually don't depreciate much (yet, who knows what will happen close to the end of RTU) like 99% of the other timeshares out there. For those lucky members who bought early on, they have actually made money on their purchase, and had many years of magical enjoyment, too.

Many people who buy timeshares lose 75% of the purchase price out the door. You will do MUCH better than that on your sale. If you have time to wait and aren't in a hurry, my advice (if you are selling SSR) would be to 1) wait until after the current SSR promotion ends and 2) wait until the inventory subsides a bit. Dues are due soon and many people may be trying to sell. Also, it's December which is generally a slow time to sell "real estate" since people are focusing on the holidays and vacations.

In the meantime, you can try renting your points if you don't want to use them yourself, at least until you can sell.

Good luck.

MsSharkBait.....I feel bad that this has happened to you. But I did read your other post and your concerns may be justified for you.

You talk about being trapped in the 7 Disney Resorts....have you ever tried to trade out and travel?? DVD players in studios are forth coming, there still changing them in the 1 and 2 bedroom units now. As far as adults only after 7:00 PM.....theres the Boardwalk and Downtown Disney.....that is on site and many other great venues off site. The towel thing bugs me as well.....at least every other day would be great...this past trip we took advantage and washed our towels between mousekeeping but I know if we were in a studio we really wouldn't have that option. The room ready/first come first served....I agree there should be something different done here. One of my fears is to get in a smoking room after requesting a non smoking room. But when we travel we try to check in as early as possible.

Good luck with the sale if you decide to do it. But I would take advantage of some trades and travel a little then make a decision.

Commission at The Timeshare Store, Inc. is currently at 10% of the purchase price.

Best wishes,

Another vote for going with Tom and the crew from the TimeShare Store. You won't find a better DVC-resales agency.

I would suggest, though, that you wait until after January 20th. This is when the SSR promotion of $86/pp will end. Then DVC will begin selling AKV shotly after that. Your best bet may be to get in the middle of those two events...after the promo and before AKV begins.

I also read your other thread...just remember that DVDs are coming to all studios, all on-property resorts charge the same for the high speed internet service. As for towels, you will either have to pay or do laundry (which is no big deal in the larger units...we do a load of laundry every day we are there, and it does not make me feel like I am doing "chores" while on vacation).

I realize that you are upset with DVC right now b/c of the issues you are having this week while on vacation. However, just as buying DVC should not be an emotion purchase, neither should selling DVC. If you still plan to go to WDW at least every other year, and still plan on staying on-property at mods or better, than DVC is still advantageous to you. Best wishes as you make your decision.

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful responses. One thing I know for sure - we will wait to sell until after the special. Though, I think we will probably just keep it. We do love Disney and in the long run it is really a great save.

I think in the future we will come every other year and possibly take advantage of a larger room. Or possibly, come every year but only for a couple of days. Between February 2005 and December 2006 we have been to WDW four times for at least a week and in some sense we are kind of getting sick of it. We had pretty much seen seen and done everything we wanted in the first 3-4 days.

I think we are just upset with the poor start to this trip which then set us off to get upset about anything else. Plus - December is too busy - February is perfect.
