Interested in getting married NEAR WDW

My fiance and I are interested in having a "get-away" wedding. But, because it is going to be just the two of us, we are not interested in the $4,000 price tag for a Disney wedding.

Is there anyone out there who has been married somewhere near Disney, then spent the week at WDW? Any ideas? I understand you can NOT get married anywhere on property without going through Disney. But what about those who just want a "vegas" type wedding at WDW?

I think Disney is missing a HUGE market of the "get-away" crowd. . . . .

Check with an officiant that does Disney weddings. I think you can get married in your hotel room or balcony without paying the Disney priced. But I am not sure. If you are not afraid of heights, you can also do a hot air balloon wedding in the Disney area that is reasonably priced. The Swan and Dolphin also do weddings which are less expensive then a Disney wedding. We were looking into getting married at Disney but like you didn't want to pay $4,000 for just the 2 of us so we looked into some other possibilities. In the end we decided to get married at home with some close friends and family attending and then we are going to Disney for our honeymoon. Good luck in finding something right for you.

disney is really strict with regards to weddings. if they find out that you are planning it, they'll make you leave! the swan/dolphin is a good option though and it's supposedly a lot cheaper than dftw!

Where can I find out more about the Hot Air Balloon option? Is Disney really so strict that they will hunt you down and find your "wedding" and crash it? How? Will men in mouse ears come out and beat you senseless?

Does the Swan and Dolphin offer a wedding in their hotel?

We're getting married at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress for only about $1650. That includes our flowers, cake, champagne, and officient. They have a lot of different packages and it is beautiful. We are getting married at a Gazebo in the middle of a lake.

Does anyone have any idea of the pricing for the weddings at the Swan and Dolphin resort for 2008?

We got married at Cypress Grove last year, we didn't want a disney wedding, so we got married under a gazebo in front of a lake it was beautiful, hope you find somewhere you like.
