I want to apply to be a CM, but I am a total OCD person. I was wondering where I could go to find out more info. Unfortunately, I only have internet a work (a high school) and the net is very well firewalled and I cannot access any Disney site. Any advice?

What are you looking to do? CP, FT, PT, seasonal?

You might try your local library (if you have one). I know ours here lets you on the internet for free as long as you have a library card (you use the card number for log in)

I want to do a CP for the Educational programs offered to get my foot in the door. But I want to end up with a full-time job working at a Resort eventually in Hotel Management. I know the competition is tough, hence why I want to get as much experience as possible.

I would except I work over 70 hours a week and the only time I have available to do it happens to be my only night alone with the hubby.

I am one of those people where I have to research exactly every aspect of everything whether I do it or not. I am not planning on moving to Orlando for another year to year in a half and I am already researching what apartment complexs prove more beneficial and closest to the parks and Publix, as I may end up transfering stores (I am currently working at Publix nights and weekends) when I move until my DH and I get solid with Disney. Laugh if you want, when I think about it I do sometimes.

Because she wants to research it as much as possible so she knows what she'd getting into. I think that's where the OCD came in anyway.....

Exactly

But does anyone know any good sites or forums or even books about being a Cast Member? I am currently reading several Disney Business books for Hospitalty major, but actually geared to the daily grind, job offerings, descriptions, full-time benefits. We'll need to know things like whether we will need to purchase insurance and start a retirement and things of that nature. Moving to Orlando is a big thin for me and I want to make sure I am making the right decision first.

As far as a published resource with all that information, I know of none.

It sounds like you're looking for a Professional Internship if you want to do something with education. However, if you want general information about careers with the company I might suggest calling the Disney Job Line @ 407-828-1000. It may end up being round-about, but it should get you to the right place eventually.

Im looking at getting a FT position sometime around May. I applied for a PI to start in June but I have not received a call back...so I'm thinking I'm not going to get it.

I already called Casting and I cannot apply until 2 weeks before I can start. Any other advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I guess no one here works for WDW other than CP and PI. I wish that someone could help us

Have you had your screening interview yet?

No, since this is the college board most of us are students, you may consider asking your questions on different boards.

To be honest with you, this is probably the best place to find info about working for Disney, CPs, PIs, etc etc.

The reason I say that is because everyones experience will be different.

This is such a huge place to work with literally 50,000+ jobs to be had, that its really tough to tell you exactly what to expect.

You mentioned that you would like to eventually be in resort management. In that case if you go for a CP program, you would need to select hospitality. If you were to try to go for a PI, then you would need to go for the Rooms and Related Internship.

Ive worked in 7 different resorts at Disney now and can atest to the fact that each and every one of them was a different experience. Even though you are doing the same job technically , its such a difference that I cant say I had the same experience at any one in paticular.

I loved a few places and hated a few places.

Just ask questions on the board. Trying to find a website with printed information will not give you the answers you seek. Just ask around for peoples opinions and their experiences and you will get alot better information.

No, I haven't heard a blasted thing. I'm a little disappointed because I thought I was very well qualified. But, I guess that's how it goes. But since we're moving down there...I'm going to have to take my chances with the casting center and hope for the best.

It's my understanding that everyone goes through a screening interview, regardless of your qualification - if you're still interested you should call someone. I believe that most internship deadlines were yesterday, so you still have a good chance!

Other then that - good luck if you decide to go straight for full time!

Thanks! I didn't know that about the screening interviews. I'm just hoping my department (Media Relations) is just taking their time.

Who knows!? :) I know that either way I'll be working for Disney!

Thanks again for the luck :flower3:
