INTEREST THREAD for Color Swap: DAte change in post 1

I'm fine with starting early. I will be taking children to summer camps on the day of sign ups (June 15), so I will need a sign up buddy.
S :)

I'm ready whenever you all are! But lets make sure Rebecca can play too. Maybe we can do signups earlier but keep due date the same and maybe we can join more groups? You all just let me know and Im there!:hippie:

I can always work these in so early or late is fine with me, but I'd also like to make sure Rebecca doesn't get moved out by it.

Earlier sign-ups but same due date would be good for me, as I have a fair old stash of paper:rolleyes1 but two packs I ordered got left out so I have to reorder some things - I could order the extra card and any embellies at the same time once i know what I need:thumbsup2

I'd like to keep Rebecca in the swap too. I'm fine with keeping the due date the same. I need a few days to get my groups together and figure out the patterned paper groups. I need to review the thread too to gather up all of the ideas. I have a crazy busy weekend ahead of me...I'll get back to you all with a date and I'll make sure to put in on the calendar thread and in the title of theis thread.

If there are any groups you'd like me to add that haven't been listed, please let me know.

QUESTION:

I'm trying to figure out how to make this a group. I have a box of American Cratfs patterned paper -- most of it has more than one color, but no one color is dominant. Mostly, the colors are either brights, neutrals, or pastels. How can we make these kinds of papers a group? I suppose I could have a patterned paper group, with no color stated? WOuld that work? ANy interest?

FOr the color groups, your paper doesn't have to be all one color. If your spot is red for example, in the end the person who gets the item really should not have to look at the label to see what group it is, KWIM? You might use white, pink, black, blue, patterned paper etc as accent colors.

I think doing a patterned paper group with either a theme to it or just a general one owuld be fine.

I would need sign-ups to be after the ABC and autograph sign-ups I need to know what i am doing in those (in case I end up adding more than I plan to finish things up) in order to join.

That sounds like good timing to me. I'll be back with a date.

For myself I like to get a mixture back - so "patterned" with no colour would work really well for me:goodvibes It would also allow me to "swap my stash" by using a mix of stuff:thumbsup2, or you could specify type of pattern (but not colour), like each group could have stripe, spot, flower, abstract etc.

I have this really abstract, but pretty, paper with a butterfly design on it. Think Iron Butterfly. So I would love a mix group.
Also, are we doing pages or elements or both?
And , are we having a kiddo group or can Banana play with us as long as I supervise?
Cant wait!:yay:

I'll hold sign ups May 12 - 16, same due date Aug 14. I will have the requirements and groups posted sometime next week. If this goes well, perhaps I'll add it to the calendar for November also.

1. the butterfly paper -- if you think it falls in a color group, you can definitely use it. If it is like my paper -- many colors with no dominant one, I think it would go in a mix group. Sometimes when a patterned paper has many colors, I find that once I pair it with a solid, that becomes the dominant color -- make sense?

2. yes pages and elements, I guess I'll do separate thread...not sure

3. I'll add a kids groups and see how we do

I have never done a color swap before. A lot of people seem to like it huh? I have only read a few of the threads but I'm in as well. But I need to check the last color swaps so I can get an idea of what to do. So I'm the newbie for this catagory.
When will you know when signups will be? I think August is a good time for due date. Any sooner I think would be too soon, since there are so many swaps that a lot of people are working on.

Sign up May 12 through 16, due August 14?? I need to re-check, but around then anyway.

On the swap gallery thread, in addition to the color swap from last year, check out the Weird pages swap to see completed color pages. I'm working on getting the particulars of the swap(s) together this week so you can check it before sign-ups and so that I can fix any mistakes before sign ups too.

The thing about a colour swap is that they are not themed except by colour, so they're really versatile :thumbsup2 Having said that, a lot of green groups have a grassy/outdoorsy feel and blue ones tend to be sea or snow embellished - but they are mostly pretty subtle. I was in a heap of groups last time and I've used nearly all my colour sets - they're perfect for "lesser" pages - the sort of everyday stuff you want to record but that don't necessarily have a theme, or are a variety of pictures of the same person. And you tend to be (mostly) able to make them from what you have, as there's no themed embelies to buy:thumbsup2 Its probably my favourite swap:goodvibes
