I put 6x6 because someone else mentioned that size. Personally, I would never use that size because I can't figure out what you put it in. The smallest album I've seen is 7x7. I like 8x8 as a size but agree that the 6x6 is more economical.
What do y'all think about a kids' character group. This would be Playhouse Disney, Little Einsteins, Power Rangers - all the things that people without kids would never use.
How about Cars in the Best Buds group?
group 4 - 2 page layout Best Buds
1 - Lilo and Stitch
2 - Buzz and Woody
3 - Alice/Mad Hatter
4 - Peter Pan/Wendy
5 - Lightening McQueen/Tow Mater
Also, the Princess groups don't have to be Princess and Prince. DH suggested Princess/Sidekick which would make Snow White/Dopey perfect.
Do we want to add another group for the "lesser-known" characters that BAMB mentioned. This would be Baloo and King Louie, Robin Hood and King John or Sheriff of Nottingham or Friar Tuck, Anastasia and Drizella, Kenai and Koda, Timon and Rafiki, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. These could also go in a swapper's choice but then everyone might end up with princess pages when they wanted rare characters. I'm not sure how to fit Remy and Turk.
Thinking about required elements - for the 6x6 pages, we will be doing a single character. The layout should have at least one mat large enough for a 4x6 photo uncropped, a journaling area, a title and a decorative element per 2-page layout.
For 12x12 pages - I'm thinking 2 mats to fit an uncropped 4x6 on each page, a title, journaling element and one decorative element per page as a base. More mats can be added but this would be the minimum.
So glad y'all are willing to talk this through!
