"Pirates of the Caribbean is set for some rehab work early this year. Whilst still not confirmed, it currently looks like Pirates will go down in March for some essential maintenance, will reopen for the busy Easter period in April, and will then close for some show rehab work in May and June. There is no information yet on what the show rehab will include, but there is the potential for some movie related items to be installed."

"It has today been confirmed internally at Disney that Pirates of the Caribbean at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will undergo the much rumored show enhancements. Top of the list are the additions of elements from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, including Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa audio-animatronics. There will also be new special effects, and some new operational enhancements. The timeframe has not been confirmed......."

I wonder why they'd rehab a major attraction during peak season when the attendance is higher?

Orlando Sentinel headline says that the ride will be down March to late June/ early July at WDW and DL. SInce I will be there in August, I am thrilled that previous reports were wrong (Mouseplanet had reported it would be down May- September). I do feel sorry for those visiting in March-early July since this is a true WDW classic.

I think they are rehabbing during peak season because the second movie opens on July 7. The ride is scheduled to reopen on July 7. They are also adding a character that was not in the first movie, but will be in the second one. I found this information on the mousegeek website.

Considering they started filming the two sequels back to back, right after the first one, they could have done this rehab during the slow season.

While we are happy that they have finally given the time of rehab, I could have sworn that I saw somewhere the new characters were to be Jack, Barbossa and Will. Anyone else remember this??

Woah! Our first day in WDW is February 28th!! I was hoping to ride it a few times, but glad to be getting on at all now!

It does need updating, but cannot understand why this wasn't started just after the New Year?
