int reception at 1900 park fare

I would like to have dinner in the GF/Poly area, at a resort so I can wear my dress but most of the nicer restaurants in that area aren't working out for me.

So I'm thinking about having dinner at 1900 PF after our wedding and just wanted opinions from people who did this and people who have eaten there in general.

1. did you feel crowded with a large group?
2. did you serve your wedding cake? was that weird with other people around watching?
3. did they sit you off to the side or at the back and how did this effect the character interaction?
4. Would you recommend doing this?

I hope you get some good answers here. This is similar to what I hope to do after our VR. I want to have Brunch at 1900 Park Fare. I'll hang out here with you to see what kind of response happens here.

I have done many a brunch at 1900PF, and will say that it is NOT very formal. However, it is a big space and Disney can transform the room into whatever you need (as long as you are the only ones there; Do they serve Dinner there???)

I was at a wedding where they turned a conference room into a ballroom with trees and everything...So they should be able to do a lot at 1900PF

Hey, Rhonda. I think we are having the same problem. I first considered Victoria & Alberts, but the food is that weird fancy food, and I am a very, VERY picky eater. I don't want to pay $100 for weird food that I cannot eat. I then considered Narcoossee's which doesn't work as my sister and I are both allergic to seafood. I don't like the decor of the chef's domain at Citrico's, and their menu isn't to my liking either. I went to all ears net and looked at menu after menu after menu. My fiance sat here with me last night, and he liked 1900 Park Fare because we are having kids as guests, and we all have different likes, and he wants prime rib, and it's a buffet. So, I agreed. We looked on google and found some reviews that say on weekends and busy times, the restaurant is noisy and full of kids. This doesn't bother me, but it may other people. I don't have time to dig up the things I found, but several intimate brides did have wedding cakes at 1900 park fare. One said she had to cut it herself (her wedding was last December) because they tried to charge her $5 per slice to cut it. No one else said anything like that, but a bad thing can happen here and there. A couple of brides said they dropped their favors off in the morning and the staff put them on the place settings.
I really think this is where we are going to have our dinner. Most of the reviews I have seen were very positive. Then after dinner, we're doing the dessert/fireworks thing. If you google "1900 park fare wedding dinner" or "1900 park fare custom cake" or "1900 park fare wedding cake" you'll find some of what I was reading last night. Tripadvisor also has good reviews on it, and you can find their buffet menu on all ears net.

We had our pre-wedding dinner at 1900 Park Fare with 16 people and had a great time. We had late ADRS, so it actually cleared out after we had been there for only a short time. It was great character interaction and we had the characters stop by our tables 3 times! We also had Cinderella & Prince Charming do a dance for us and it was lovely! The food was excellent too and everyone in my party loved it! We thought it was a magical dinner the night before the wedding!

I am having my wedding dinner at 1900 Park Fare and i cant wait! Only 5 weeks to go so ill let you know what i think when i get back. I think the pictures that you will get will be priceless! Why pay over the odds to have Mickey and Minnie at the Wedding when you can dine with other Disney Characters, have a delightful meal for 18 people and still have money left over!
I am going to have a check with the Manager on a few things but i am hoping it will not be too busy as we have an early sitting (4.50pm).

I deffo think that when having a wedding meal with a large party in a restuarant like 1900 Park Fare, 'Ohanas etc it pays to get a very early time or a very late time as that way it is quiet when you get in there - for the late seating it empties out as you are eating.

1900 Park fare is my most favorite buffet on property. The food is of a very high standard as you'd expect from Disney's flagship buffet.

Having the characters is a double whammy - what better picture than that of a wedding princess in her dress with Cinderella - wonderful!!

I don't have a bad word to say about this place. Of course it gets noisy etc but I love that when a bride and her party is eating in a regular restaurant all eyes are on her. And so many will be jealous to think that you got married in WDW of all places.

Sam, I have to say these are many of the reasons I want to do this, of course for brunch, we most likely will not have Cinderella. But I can deal with that. We are having our "welcome" dinner at 'Ohana the night before our VR and then a Thank you/farewell breakfast the day after at another character buffet (probably Chef Mickey's). I want my guests to be immersed in the fun side of Disney while they attend my VR.

Thanks for the input, I definately feel more at ease about this now. I can't wait! I'll be at 180 days on the 27th and I was driving my self crazy thinking about this.
