Insurance ?

I want to purchase insurance from insuremytrip.com. What will happen it I purchase it for more than the trip amount? Here is the problem. I have vouchers from DCL for 25% off of my next cruise. I have to mail those in and ge the credit. If they chose to not accept them for the cruise (I am thinking that they may not since it is a special cruise) I will need to be insured for quite a bit more. Should I go ahead and purchase for the lessor amount?

insuremytrip.com does have a customer service number: (800) 487-4722. This might be a good time to use it. You want to be covered for the full cost of your trip, but if you insure for more than you actually paid, that may be grounds for disallowing any claim. Let them make the decision.

As far as I can tell you'll can buy insurance for whatever amount you want. Of course the cost of the insurance goes up the more you're insured for.

There may be issues with how much you can claim, depending on the policy specifics. Sometimes you'll only be reimbursed for certain things like for travel and baggage delays. Sometimes you'll just be paid the full amount you are insured for. Really have got to see the policy for those exact items.

But, you most definitely can purchase for a larger amount than what you actual cruise, air, ground costs are. You'll be the one paying for it.

You can purchase any amount of insurance you want. If you need to file a claim you will only be reimbursed for exact amounts you are out proved via receipts.

It is probably from one of the cruises that was shortened due to the huricanes last year.
