Insurance / Wedding?????

So I got engaged a few weeks ago and the biggest hurdle of where to have the ceremony and reception has been tackled. We found the perfect place BUT......the reception will be in a city hall building and they require us to purchase liability insurance for the day of the event. Now we don't own our home so we don't have home owners insurance so it's not covered on that and I don't have renters insurance. I have lost count of all the insurance companies I have called and none of them offer it. Has anyone gone through this or do you have any ideas of where I can go????

Oh and yes I asked city hall for previous insurance companies that were used and the ones they gave me either do not do it anymore or have not gotten back to me.

Please help......I don't want to lose out, I have already had to give up one date cause they had something scheduled already!!!

I have never done this-our church and reception site when we got married carried their own. BUT, I do remember hearing about "wedding insurance" so maybe you could check that out.

google "wedding insurance" or "liability insurance". We almost got some and I think it was a few hundred bucks.

You should also become a member of a wedding board like theknot.com...those girls over there have so much wedding knowledge, it's scary!

You might ask your employer who your insurance agent is - someone who does Commercial Insurance will be very familiar with Special Event Liability coverage. I've written accounts with Scottsdale Insurance - another option would be to check their site for an agent in your area.

ask city hall if you can get the names of some groups who have used the facility recently, contact them and see who they used.
