Well we have had the news we have been dreading my dad has to go in for a knee replacement in june (he thought he had just twisted his knee when he went to see the doc this week turns out his bones are rubbing together)

meaning that he cant fly for SIX months, so my parents cant come along to wdw with us as planned in november.

Now heres the question, how does he stand with his insurance (annual insurance with e sure) this wasnt a pre existing condition, can he get a refund of the flights?

Also where does he stand as he has booked a private villa that now wont be used.

It never rains it pours

if it wasn't a pre existing condition then he's covered, i.e. if its something that was undiagnosed prior to getting his insurance he's ok. as for the villa, I guess he'll get back 1 share of it, you may have to swap it for a smaller one, hope that helps Anna

They should pay out re flights but the question is were the flights booked before the initial visit to the DR re his knee?

Claire ;)

yes his flights were booked before the docs appointment was even set up.

he only found out two weeks about his knee and paid private for the appointment which was friday

we wont be using the villa at all seen as though its just chris and the girl and me.

Ah thats good to hear flights were booked before Dr appointment as that will make it alot easier, as some policies excluded if you are waiting for a diagnosis or further investigation etc.

Six months sounds like an incredibly long time? I work for the National Joint Registry looking after the database for all Hip and Knee replacements in England and Wales and most case people are able to fly within 2-3 months depending on circumstances.

My nan had her knee replacement 6 weeks before flying out to our wedding in December. She was given Warfarin to reduce the risk of blood clots and was told no issue with flying once she was able to sit comfortably.

think youshould be covered for both flights and accomidation even if booked seperatly.I`am in the opposite position not yet booked but have to wait 6 weeks after my second eye op before we can book

hiya laura thanx for this, we have tried to talk to the hospital about this today, and now have three different times!! receptionist says 6 weeks without flying, person in charge of replacements says three months and the consultant says 6!

argh it will be so much easier if they can go, we were really looking forward to it
