This is my first post but I have been reading for quite a while.

I take insulin for my diabetes and wonder if it will be a problem bringing it on the airplane...

Insulin is allowed. It wouldn't hurt to carry a spare set of prescriptions with you. My DD is insulin dependent and we always travel with a letter from her doctor verifying her condition and an extra set of prescriptions. We also carry the empty insulin boxes that have her name on them since it is not on the insulin vial itself.

There is no limit on liquid prescription drugs. The 4 oz is for liquid OTC drugs.

A prescription isn't required for insulin in most states. The original TSA list used insulin as an example of an essential non-prescription medicine that was allowable. I thought the insulin exception was 8 oz.

Not in this thread but some posters seem to think having a doctor write a prescription for an OTC medicine somehow makes it a prescription drug. IT DOESN'T although it might help demonstrate that it's medically needed.

Yes, and if the TSA was to me that a drug of any type "prescribled" by a physician was not essential I would stand at the checkpoint and start raising a stink.

There is ALWAYS a supervisor on duty, start there. There is also someone in charge of your local TSA, keep pushing. The TSA is NOT qualified to make decisons on medical necessity. I would offer to have them call both the MD and the pharmacist if they have questions about the accuracy of the medical orders, but I am not letting them make medical necessity decisions for me.
