Instead of Yak and Yeti?

Just finished the email show and I have to say Pete has scared me out of my Yak and Yeti reservation! I wasn't real thrilled with the 4:30 ADR time anyway. It would definitely make it hard for me to fit Flame Tree Barbecue which is a must for me! So what do you suggest we put in place of it?
Here is where we are going this trip:

Chef Mickey - Breakfast
Crystal Palace - Breakfast
Cape May Cafe - Dinner
O'Hana - Breakfast
Garden Grill - Dinner (yuck! Daughter's choice!)
Brown Derby - Dinner
Tony's Town Square - Dinner

We don't have to stay in the AK area. We don't want to do Rainforest and we were really unimpressed with Boma when we went. So give me some of your favorites!

We ate at the Y&Y in August and liked it. We loved the theme and thought the food was great. I really can't recall the dinner being really expensive. However, I'm sure we racked up a pretty good bill.

I wonder if Pete just has a built in bias towards Landry restaurants that taints his view of any experience.

I was interested in his very glowing comments about the new Tusker House buffet. We have a group of 9 going in July. Perhaps we'll give the TH a try instead.

You have the same reaction that I did. I was not thrilled with a 4:30 ADR we normally eat around 6pm. Petes review just put the nail in the coffin. I changed mine out to Ohana dinner due to MK hours that day. Kona cafe might be a choice or Boma. Good luck we just made some last minute chages to our April ressies.

Went to the new Tusker House today for the first time since it became a buffet.

It was FANTASTIC. Very, VERY good. Right there with Boma (almost consider it Boma's twin brother).

I highly recommend TH...although it's only been one visit, it ranks up there with my absolute favorite WDW restaurants. It's that good.

We loved Yak & Yeti in September--it was our second favorite meal of our trip. We did an early time at Flame Tree (11:00 I think) and then had 4:30 dinner at Yak & Yeti.

I also enjoyed our Yaki & Yeti meal - all 4 adults in my party did... and all 4 of us hated Trails End... which the Podcast crew raved about...

Just goes to show you, everyone has their own taste!

Same here, we enjoyed the time at Y&Y during our last trip and thinking that we will go back again.

Have nice day everyone. :)

We loved the Y&Y. If anyone has ever eaten at a PF Chang's, they would know how good the Yak & Yeti is. Pete must have been there on an off night.

Ive heard the same thing Pete said from several podcasts, which is one of the reasons why I didnt even try to go on the last trip i was there. It's not that the food is bad, it is just not worth the money you pay for. I personally would take the bus to Epcot and go to Cafe Marekesh (sp?) in the Moroccan pavilian. It is a great place to eat and has similar food.

After much discussion DH and I have decided to keep the Yak & Yeti reservation. We were really looking forward to it. Now I just wish we could get a later reservation...ours is for dinner at 4:30.

We also enjoyed our Yak and Yeti meal. It was 5 adults and 2 children. I had the Steak and shrimp and the won ton dessert. We took our dessert togo and sat outside and enojyed the day!

I will just add my thumbs-up to Y&Y, we had a very nice (P.F.Chang-like) lunch there in December. If I was going to "wave you off" of a reservation it would be Tony's Town Square. I agree with Kevin's review from some time back... great location, lovely facility, lousy food and horrible (sorry, should've used a capital H) service, and ridiculously expensive for Chef Boyardee!

Brown Derby is the best on your list. I would give Boma a second chance. It is repeatedly one of our favorites. Haven't eaten at Y and Y yet so can't comment there. I do agree that Flame Tree is the best.

I'm glad to hear you decided to stay! :thumbsup2
We have had lunch at Y&Y twice and truly enjoyed it both times. (We are PF Chang fans as well- decent comparison)

Keep calling back to attempt to change your seating time. Even call while you are there on vacation- even the day of. Something could open up at the last minute.

Just don't know that I could talk my daughter and husband into Boma again. It really was bad! I would like to try Jiko sometime but I know the 13 year old wouldn't really find anything there to eat. We will just have to put that on our "to do" list for that far off trip with no child.
