Installing car seat on airplane

on an airplane that was the only way it fit... putting it on the front facing slot, caused the belt to push too far up into what would be my son's back, with the buckle right there in the middle. That seat wasn't going anywhere with the tightness I had it in.

We have the buckle in the back problem too, but neither of my kids have ever complained about it so we just left it there. Normally I wouldn't advocate what you did with the seatbelt, but I'm wondering how much it matters on a plane since it's more for turbulence than the kind of crashes you would be in while driving a car.

exactly.. on planes its more to keep them down, as our DS wouldn't keep still otherwise. I always, Even in the car, sit on the carseat to supertighten it down. That seat wasn't moving anywhere, and in a crash, well, we'd all be doomed as it was a flight over water.

now to the PPP, at 6yo, i'd not even bother putting our child in a carseat on the plane. We gate checked it for our DD4 as she was tall enough to sit in the normal seat strapped in.
