Insspired: Did you ever get caught skipping school?

Yep and got caught too. A bunch of us decided to go to the park instead of school. We went to a small catholic high school and whenever there was an absence your parent had to call the school. What were we thinking? One by one we all made our calls trying to sound like adults. Well that worked. Was the school office that niave that they thought 7 "parents" called claiming their kids were sick one after the other? Anyway, we thought we were scott free and went to the park. We played handball and were just goofing around when we head a deep voice yell at us. We all look and that's right, its the police. Most of the kids started to run, but, I was too scared to follow them. I started to cry (big baby, that I was) and the officer just told me to go home. So, I did. We all then met at my house and was laughing about the whole thing. Then around 1pm we hear my mother at the door. She was coming home from work early. We didn't know what to do or where to hide. It took her all of 2 minutes to climb up the stairs and those were the longest 2 minutes of my life. She opens the door and sees us all there at the kitchen table and just says "Oh, what did you all have, a 1/2 a day". We all said yeah and everything was fine after that. But, NO MORE cutting school for me after that, it was just tooooo stressful. This was all years and years ago, but, I remember it like it was yesterday......

Nope, but Senior year ffree period was a LOT of fun! :cool1:

I got caught twice. Once by a police officer and once by my mom. I'm pleading the 5th for any further details though.

Please!!! My morning's started at 6.30 (i.e. the time morning detention's started) One detention = one class period missed. I was there -seriously- every morning. And my mom dropped me off.... :teeth:

And every few weeks - Saturday morning, for 4 hours, was spent in Saturday detention. 3-5 class periods missed = one of these babies. My mom also dropped me off for these..... :teeth:

And I also spent a lot of days in the B.A.C. (behavior adjustment center...i.e.: in school suspension) You got one of these for an entire day missed. My mom would take me to get magazines when I was faced with all day of no speaking.... no leaving this room with no windows.

I always got busted - thankfully my Mom was "understanding" (fed-up)! ! !

No, I was a good kid in school.

Until I got to college and then I went crazy!

I stayed out sick one day my Senior year w/ my mom's approval for some reason, but when it came time for Senior skip day, mom made me go to school. I was so mad about that!!!

I never actually skipped school, but I did skip study hall for the 2nd semester of my Senior year. I would get a note from my typing teacher to leave study hall to go to the business lab to practice typing and I would actually roam around school, going to the cafeteria (my study hall was during one of the lunch periods), library, and anywhere else I could find my friends. Finally, about 3 days before the end of school, my study hall teacher and my typing teacher were talking and realized what I was doing. I had the choice to go sit in my study hall teacher's math class during my lunch time for the last 3 days of school or go to the assistant principal's office. Well, the assis. prin. was an absolute witch so I said I'd hang out in the math class. I was scared to death that the assis. prin. would say I couldn't go through graduation or something--she was really that bad.

I never did really bad things, but I would do just enough to have fun getting by w/ stuff I really wasn't supposed to be doing, but never too much to get in big trouble for! :sunny:

I never skipped without my mom knowing before hand. I also got out of alot of classes with the teachers ok. I was a member of drama club and we would have perfromances for other schools. Its was always in the morning and we would be done by lunch and we werent excused for the last 2 periods. I would go to my classes, in full costume/ make-up and tell that I didnt have time to change but I didnt want to miss anything. Not once did the teacher make me stay, I was always told that we werent working on anything new and to go change, and relax. So I would go back to the dressing room and slowly change and chill until the next class. then I would go, to that class and my teacher would ask how the show went. I would say great, but that I was wiped and then I would get excessed from that class to go home and nap before the show that night. But then again, I was always the quiet one who never got into trouble. :) . this worked for all 4 years of High school!

Nope. Never skipped.

But my DS tried that this year. He skipped a couple of days in a row. His math teacher lives in our neighborhood, and on her way to school, she saw him riding his bike to the pool. Can you say BUSTED????

I skipped one time my freshman year in HS....to hang out at a King Soopers (a grocery store). I felt so stupid hanging out there that I never did it again.

Yes I got caught one time and had to spend a week in ISS. I let my kids have a day off or two a year now, when you go to work you get personal days and vacations.....I think at school they should have a day or two as well. I've seen children (and actually graduated with 2) that had perfect attendance throughout their whole school career.....that's amazing! It's something to be applauded but it just isn't practical to think that it's feasible for everyone.

I skipped once my junior year and went ice skating with a friend. She worked in the office during her study hall so she signed us both in the next day. We never did get caught.

My mother's a teacher. For every punishment the school could have cooked up for me skipping, she would have found something much worse
That being said I did have two days last year (senior year) that I skipped with her permission. One was to go pick up a friend in CT, who was coming for the weekend. The other was because of a massive shooting threat at school. All the other days I ever missed were VERY valid reasons. And yes, I was in school on senior skip day
I'm in college now, and have not skipped a class yet this year, even when I was sick

I was fortunate enough to have a mom who gave me a few "personal days" each year. She even gave me a note so I could join my class for lunch during "Chem. skip day" So, nope, never skipped....

I skipped twice my 10th grade year and got caught the second time. We went to another school to pick up some friends and one of the girls there didn't like us and called the Assist. Principal. The next day the AP said she was going to call my mom, so I called my mom first and confessed. The AP never did call my mom...she musta known I'd fold. :rotfl:

I didnt' skip again til I was a senior. I was newly dating my first husband and we skipped 19 days (20 was the cut-off for failure). Everyone knew we were dating and skipping together (those front office people are no dummies), but we never got in trouble again. I guess because we were good kids with good grades. :confused3

We weren't drinking or messing around though - we would always drive to Savannah and spend the day shopping! I even bought my prom dress on a day I skipped with him. We weren't right! :rolleyes1

Yep...in 7th grade. A couple of friends and I decided we didn't want to go to the last class of the day on a Friday so we ran into the woods that were across the street from the school. The principal's office had a window facing that direction so needless to say we were spotted. (Thinking back...how stupid were we??? ) The principal was waiting on us when we got on the school bus. He had called my friends' parents but said he couldn't reach mine but would be calling Monday. I remember stressing the whole weekend...but for some reason he never called.
