Inspired by wvjules....summer reading recommendations

I just finished reading "Seabiscuit: an American Legend".

Even though thoroughbred horseracing isn't a subject I would have thought would hold my interest, it was a fabulously told story and I highly recommend it!

Read anything good lately, that you can recommend for me to read next?

Seabiscuit was really good

I just finished:
"Red Room" by Nicci French - a great thriller. I recommend all 3 of her books

"Portrait of a Killer - Case Closed" - Patricia Cornwell's Jack the Ripper book. I really think she's on to something.

"Devil in the White City" Eric Larson. An excellent book about the quest to beat Paris at all costs in the creation and planning of the Chicago World's Fair and the horrific story of HH Holmes- America's 1st serial killer

Triggerfish Twist. I forget the author's name but it was a great read. Not many books make me laugh so hard I cry - but this one did. It's like a Carl Hiassen book on acid.

Jenz, I've been contemplating buying Patricia Cornwell's Jack the Ripper book. I've read all of her novels, but started to get really bored with the Scarpetta series....the last few seemed too predictable. I love true crime stories, so I think I'll get that next time I'm at the bookstore.
