I love taking pictures but I really think my DGD will be a photographer. She was taking my pictures with my camera from the time she was about 2. When she was 3 my DD bought her a Fisher Price camera. She is now 5 and is using my Canon A560 P&S. She takes pictures of feet, looking up, looking down, things from a different perspective. She took this self portrait and the picture of her baby sister. I really think she is going to be good and can't wait to take her to WDW to see what she takes pics of there.

When it comes time for her to tell her story she can honestly say it started when she could walk.

Good for her! Photography is a great life-long hobby. I started young and so have all my kids. My 9yo has her own Flickr Page now. ;)

I wish that my parents encouraged this, but neither one were into photography. I really didn't get serious until I was almost 40; both my boys have shown an interest (16 and 14) and enjoy taking pictures on our vacations. My younger one is more into video, but either is just fine!

Both of my kids (son 12, daughter 9) have shown interest in learning more about shooting pictures, and I really want to encourage them in this. My son's best friend (14) is also very interested (his parents want to get him a good starting P&S camera). What I'm thinking of doing is giving my son and his friend some very basic lessons in photography (both with the P&S, and with my Nikon D5000 as well) and see if anything comes from it. Also, like they say, the best way to learn something for yourself is to teach it to someone else. Hopefully by giving them some simple lessons, it can help me get an even better understanding of photography myself.

I am planning on taking a class or two and then teaching her. She mimics me all the time. I was taking pics of a bird and she had to get her camera. I love it as a way to express myself. She has a good eye already and I can't wait to see how she develops as a photographer. I may start taking her on nature walks this summer with the camera to see how she does.

I let my cousins use my camera all the time, so does there ma. The youngest wants to be a photographer like me, and the oldest is a ham (and loves to pose for me and her sister). She took some pretty cool ones this summer. I will post one if I can find it.

As I've mentioned before, both my kids (age 12) enjoy photography, and I've enjoyed teaching them what I know. I wish I'd had someone do it for me, but honestly, where I grew up, I didn't know anyone who was *really* into photography who could.

My DS is into the technical aspect of things. He uses my dSLR like it's nothing. (I'm beginning to think that the male gene has something to do with this, lol.) Since he was quite young I've allowed him to use my cameras and he's shown respect for them so I even allow him to use my dSLR on his own. When I upgrade I plan to give it to him. (And he's itching for it. :hyper: ) He'll also choose photography books for his nightly reading sometimes so he's well on his way to becoming a good photographer at a young age. (Yay!)

My DD is not into the technical aspect of things (must be a chip off the ol block) but she loves taking pictures. She'd prefer a simple point and shoot camera but I generally let her use my old S3IS so she at least learns how to use different modes and feel comfortable with a more advanced camera in her hands. She'll also use my dSLR but has little idea what she's doing, simply because she hasn't put the time into learning like my DS has (which is fine). I do teach her anyway when we're out shooting because I think that she's absorbing information without realizing it. Someday she may want more.

The funny part is that every year we all enter pictures in a local photography contest. So far, yours truly has won SQUAT while my kids are racking up the winning ribbons. :rotfl2: They love razzing me about it (and I'm happy for them). :goodvibes
