Inspired by the wedding thread...how did you meet/get together with your SO?

DH and I knew each other for about six weeks but we didn't really like each other. My roommate and DH's brother were both waiters at Bennigan's. So after work a large group of us would hang out. One night my roommate was playing pool with a friend of ours. I wanted my roommate to win so every time the other guy would go to make a shot, I would try to distract him. I would kiss his neck or whisper " I want you " in his ear. DH thought this was very funny. We have the same sense of humor. So we have now been making each other laugh for almost 14 years. We've been married for 9.

we met in law school. in our school there were 3 "groups" for classes and we were in the same class. you were required to sit alphabetically and b/c of where our letters in the alphabet were, he always sat right behind me. I was footloose and fancy free, having broken up with a guy b/c I knew I would be too busy with school and was 600+ miles away from home.

In one class, I knew I was doing poorly and he always answered questions and correctly. I asked him to help me study for the class which he did religiously. After we took the exam, he asked me out and I said no! :rotfl: I found out years later that he was devestated over Christmas break and his mom hated me for it.

But he got VERY smart. The next semester, he was always "around" but not really talking to me - always flirting with friends, etc. So I got jealous - REALLY jealous. Five months later, I asked him to go rollerblading with me and told him then that I made a mistake and can we give it a try. And we did!

Dated through law school and then the night we were going to find out if we passed the state bar - about an hour before, he asked me to marry him. He was going to ask me after, but he wanted to do it before to show that he loved me no matter what happens and who passed. We found out at midnight that we both passed so we had two great pieces of news to tell our families!

DBF was my prom date! He is my friends brother, and when prom time rolled around I didn't have a date, so she said he could take me. We had a great time. So then we would hang out together as a group with some other friends. But we would never get the chance to really know each other. Then about a month after that he came to see me where I worked by himself and then we started dating after that. We have been together 4 years.

This is so cliche, but we met at his fraternity party. My sorority sisters took me there to get my mind off my ex (who I was moping over and was depressing all of them). When I got there, FI said that he saw me from across the room and knew he had to meet me. That year we were building our homecoming float with his fraternity and he just "happened" to be there every time I was. :) That's where he asked me on our first date.

Dh and I met on the Disney CP. We were on the bus on the way to work. He kept telling me how much he liked my hair (running joke in the family now). We were both dating other people at the time. Once May came, we both moved home, him to Massachusetts and me to NY. We dated long distance for 2 1/2 years before getting married. We had never lived closer than 3 hours apart when we got married :rotfl: It's a wonder we haven't killed each other yet!

We met in church. Who knew they let fellas like that in there? LOL.
Actually I had just moved to KY from a more northern state and it was my first service at the church my parents had picked for our family to attend. I had brought a bf with me from my hometown (he was visiting for a week) but I spotted my future dh across the church and made note of how good looking he was. Bf went back home and we promptly broke up.
I kept my eye on future dh but we didn't speak or anything for a few months. Finally he came over and talked to me a few times after church. After a couple of weeks he asked me out. The rest is history! We've been married 22 yrs now. And I'm still surprised they let fellas like him in the church, lol. (j/k)

I got a job working at a hotel and he was working there in maintainence. He came up to me and wanted to know if I'd have lunch with him. We've been together 16 years:)

That's weird, my DH and I met the same way!

We both worked at Disney's All Star Resorts. I worked Front Office for Movies, and he worked in maintenance. The first time I met him I was dispatching for maintenance and he came into the office to yell at me because he thought the other guy should be taking calls. (To this day he doesn't remember this). We worked together about a year without talking to each other.

Then out of the blue one of lady maintenance workers came into the office and said, "One of the guys really likes you, but he's afraid to ask you out." I asked which guy, she said it was Robert.

Now there were two Robert's there at the time, so I assumed it was the other Robert since now-DH's jerk episode. That had me really confused because I was almost positive the other Robert was gay.

Well I finally figured out it was Jerk-Robert, but he never did approach me. Yet another guy in maintenance asked me over to his apartment for a BBQ, so I went. When I got to his apartment there was a note stuck on the door saying they had moved the BBQ to Jerk-Robert's place.

I was so nervous to call him for directions I probably sat in my car, cell phone in hand, staring at the note for about an hour. I finally called to tell him I wasn't coming. He begged. I gave in.

The rest is history. We celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary yesterday. :teeth:

We worked together. He was stock, I was sales. He was the first person to come up to me to say hello when I started. I liked him immediatly. We became friends after a few months and people were actually taking bets to see when we would get together.

I told a "friend"/co-worker (one that wasn't taking bets) that I really liked him, the next day he calls me from work and says, you know So-and-so is acting all weird, she keeps hugging me and hanging around the stock room. I was furious, so in order to get back at her, I needed to inform some other co-workers how awful she was. It was one of them that told him about my "crush" and the next day he asked me out.

It will be 5 years in Dec.

Jerk-Robert

I loved your story but do you still refer to him as "Jerk-Robert"? You know, sort of a little pet name? :rotfl:

:rotfl: No, but I bring it up every chance I get. He's definitely a "Mr. Nice Guy" personality, so I tell people about the day we met to even the playing field a little.

He still claims he's never yelled at me, but I even remember the call I tried to give him that he got in a tiff about - and I have witnesses :smooth:

I met my DH at a law firm he was clerking at when I went in to apply for a job. He told a buddy of his (who I would be interviewing with) that he had better hire me! Funny thing is, when I saw him, I thought hmmmm....I think I'm gonna marry him! Funnier thing is, I was in a 2 year relationship at the time but was in a very bad place with this guy b/c he had cheated on me. So he was on the way out and DH was on the way in! I got the job, DH & I started hanging out together, going to after work happy hours and stuff. Our first real date was August 29th, 1986 (can you believe we both still remember that?). BTW, I took my first trip to Disney with him & his whole family! We dated long distance for awhile (which proved to be challenging!) while he went away to Law School but finally got married one week after he graduated and we've been married 15 1/2 years! :lovestruc He's a great guy!

I met my current boyfriend through my roommates.
He went to high school with one of my roommates and had developed a crush on my other roomate, her best friend, over the summer. Well the crush blocked him and so he was hounding his high school classmate.
He had the same history major as me and he was cute so I said I would talk to him, simply to get him off of their backs as I was the most honest and blunt one of the group. Well I ended up following in love with him...boy none of us expected that, most of all him!

Met DH online playing a game called Everquest.

Myst

In true nerd fashion, the first conversation my fiance and I had was an arguement about Latin. :rotfl:

We were in the same Theatre History class (Dr. Pilkinton's Theatre History Since 1700); we both talked more in that class than the rest of the students combined and ended up getting into a knock-down drag-out about Latin pronunciation!!

We're getting married in May and he always says he knew he was in love with me when we were halfway through the argument and the only thing he was thinking about anymore was how pretty I looked when I was yelling at him.

Oh, and we still disagree about the Latin...

My husband and I went to the same high school and briefly met when a mutual friend introduced us. We didn’t cross paths for the rest of senior year though. We then both worked at Publix the summer after graduation. We were both in the break room one day when I mentioned that I needed help upgrading Windows. Well, DH is a self-proclaimed computer geek, and he jumped at the chance to help. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but when he came over to fix my computer, I planted one on him. :teeth: We dated ever since and got married a year after my college graduation.

DH and I met in college.
My roomates were twins. One was dating the Capt. of the hockey team the other the President of our class. My DH happened to be Capt. of the soccer team and the roommate of the Pres. He was always in my room with his roommate. I just thought of him as a friend and a pain in the a** as he was always there with his roomate!!
The President of the college who I knew well because I was on school council kept telling me I had to meet his nephew...no thank you!!!! I didn't think I needed to meet his nerdy nephew!!! I had a very nice boyfriend back at home. One day Pres of Class roommate (future DH) casually said we should go to the movies...I thought he meant.....all of us. I said Ok and we went to see "The Shining" just us.....hmmmm that was it!! I married him 2 years later. Yup you guessed it...he was the nephew!!!! Small world!!!!
Oh my roomates did not marry their boyfriends!! But the Capt of the hockey team went on to go to the Olympics and coach a NHL team he is a great guy!!!. My old boyfriend (the nice one who was at home) bought the house next to my Mom and Dad and he and DH have golfed a few times!! All ended up GREAT!!!!!!!!

High school....but really our 2 groups met by chance.

Our schools were about 45 minutes apart but my friend ended up being pushed into him at an Italian fest in his neighborhood and they started talking. Our 2 groups of friends started hanging out after that. I dated him til we were 21 then we married. Everyone thought it wouldn't last but 22 years and 3 kids later it's still going strong.

My version is different from DH's

DH used to dance in a folklore group from his native country in his spare time. I love attending these kind of festivals.

My version is that he was a great dancer and I wanted to congradulate him afterwards and tell the group that I enjoyed their performance. We hit it off and the rest is history.

DH's version is that I thought he was so handsome, that I just had to meet him :rotfl2:

We met at work. I had just graduated from college and went to work through a temp agency at the place he worked. It was supposed to be a long term assignment as in several weeks. The first day I was there the lady I was helping took me around to meet everyone. DH was sitting in his office and as soon as I saw him I knew I wanted to go out with him. Not sure why. :confused3 It took me 3 weeks to get him to ask me out. Neither one of us would have dated if we thought my working there was going to last 5 years-- they eventually hired me.

DH is 14 yrs older than me and I know there were many people that we worked with that thought it would never last. We have now been together 15 yrs - married 13 yrs- and have 1 child. We have been through a lot together.

I met dh in WDW at the age of 8. No joke! Both our families were vacationing in Disney when we bumped into each other. His mother and my dad knew each other from our home town through work. Dh ignored me though as he had a romantic interest in an older woman - my sister who was the ripe old age of 13!! :rotfl:

We ended up going to the same high school but didn't start dating until we were 22!! Naturally, we went to WDW for our honeymoon! ;)
