My dh and I both volunteered with fire stations, but in different counties. In 1997 we participated in the annual firefighters Spark of Love toy drive. This particular year, dozens of fire truck and engines formed a caravan that went from city to city. I was riding in one engine, Chris was driving a truck and tiller. Long story short - the engine I was riding in broke down, so I had to hitch a ride on the truck Chris was driving. He didn't talk much, but he was pleasant to be with. When we got back home, I started getting out of the truck and Chris says "So, uh, are there any good places to eat around here?" I said of course, and then he asks if he could take me out to dinner sometime. I said yes, and the rest is history. A couple years later he tells me that he was so nervous that he couldn't remember my name until I wrote it down for him with my number. He was such a dork! The truck and tiller we met in was used in our wedding too - it was really sweet!
Within 3 months we were living together (much to the dismay of both sets of parents) and a year later we were engaged. Our 5th wedding anniversary is in January. And I've never been happier or more in love. 
It's okay.
We have been married for 12 years and look forward to 50 more!

waiting for my date to get off bar duty. Suddenly, this cute guy appears and pulls me away from the fireplace telling me "You are swaying so much, I am afraid you are going to fall into that fire."....
It wasn't until a conversation later that evening when I told him about my DM almost falling in the Grand Canal of Venice that he decided I was worldly enough to pursue
