Inspired by the Pop thread... Does ASMo do anything?

I just saw a thread about Pop, and was wondering what kind of things to look/ask for at ASMo. I know it's a value, but there was a lot of fun stuff listed about Pop, so I thought I'd ask. What have you seen/asked for?

:sad1: Really? Do they at least do the animal towels? (I know that it is random) Has anyone else ever had anything special or fun happen at ASMo? I don't mind if not, but if there are things to look out for, I'd like to hear about them, even activities that might be widely known. (I don't know them because I haven't been to WDW since I was 12, and we stayed off-site) TIA! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Our mousekeeper made a Mickey out of towels on one of the beds and put our Pal Mickey inside of it one night. Another night, we came home to all the kids animals (Dumbo, Eeyore and a teddy) propped up on the pillows "watching" tv. Dumbo was holding the remote. That was really cute. We took pictures but don't know how to post them.

She also made washcloth fans by the sinks and by the bath mat.

We loved ASMo! The theme is great and we all had fun looking at all the details- BIG and small.

Oh, there is a place for kids to watch cartoons in the lobby while parents check in. And there are pop jets back by the Herbie the Lovebug building- those were cool.

I want your mousekeepers! Now I think I will bring some stuffed animals just to see if they do anything! :cool1: Did you tip then really well or something? You seem to have haad a lot of fun stuff... I wonder if I leave them milk and cookies...

geez, this is a hard thread to keep up there...should I just give up?

Mousekeepers at ASMo do stuff like towel animals at times, too. Depends on the mousekeeper and how much time they have.

At the AS resorts, the windows have a small ledge, and mousekeepers will often arrange items from your room (like stuffed animals) in a little vignette. Once I saw a spectacularly arranged Star Wars battle scene put together with action figures one of the room's occupants must have brought with her/him.

I have to think of something fun to pack now! I'll keep my room clean and leave a note that says- "Dear Mouskeeping, We have cleaned our own room, so that you don't have to. Please use this time to have fun playing with our toys and making cool stuff for us to see. Here is a nice big tip too. Yours Truely, The ... Family" PS- If you need more time, we'd be happy to clean the neighboring rooms for you! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

:flower: :flower:

Well, we did tip pretty well, I think- $10 a day for 2 rooms- 2 adults and 3 children. Plus, we straightened up and kept things fairly clean. The kids asked why they had to make the beds when the lady was just gonna come in and do it over. :confused3

There was one day that we had a male mousekeeper and we didn't get anything special- don't know if that made a difference or not.

We left the tip in an envelope by the sink and I wrote For mousekeeping and Thank you with a smiley face. I also always requested extra towels for the pool and there were always plenty in both rooms. I wasn't sure if they would all be able to read english, but obviously that wasn't a problem since the towels were always left. :)

I hope you have a great time on your trip. Your kids will love the resort even if they don't get "fun stuff" in the room. Hoping for some pixie dust for you!! :teeth: :teeth:

Thanks for the pixie dust. I really don't think my son will notice, he won't even be 2... but I will! :teeth: I'm just a big kid at heart.

I don't remember any towel animals when we stayed at ASMo (2001), but I remember little bits of magic. While DH was checking in, DD & I sat in the "theatre" in the lobby watching cartoons. While we were sitting there, a CM came around and gave the all the kids a helium balloon (with a Mickey-shaped weight at the end of the string :earsboy: ). The CM at the food court gave DD a free Mickey straw. A lifeguard at the pool walked around the pool with DD, talking to her about how she liked WDW. ASMo was our first on-site experience and the magic we experienced there hooked us completely.

My oldest dd and I stayed there in 2001 for her 8th birthday. We stayed 3 nights 4 days, and had towel animals after 2 of those nights. We did not tip at all, since the CM at check in, when I asked, said the mousekeepers were not a tipped position in WDW (and I had not joined the DIS boards yet so didn't know to tip ANYWAY, loL!) My dd thought the sticker-eyes were the funniest part!

OH, and each day when the lifeguards announced that the pool was open, they picked a kid to "open the pool" as an honorary lifeguard. When they asked my dd, she said "No, thank you" so they turned around and invited her new Welsh friend she met that trip.

But my opinion is that, especially for kids (little and big), ASMo is full of magic just for the photo opps alone! We got a great one at this one area ... my dd stood behind a TV (like she was on TV), and the baby dalmations are placed like they are watching her on TV. She LOVED that!

Have fun!

I can't wait to go now!! I want to see what kind of magic we'll find there! :wizard:

The maids were great at ASMo. We always had something to look forward to when we came home. Usually it was Mickey or something "waiting" for us in our window. It was great.

I don't know where I saw it, but ASMo actually got really bad ratings! It doesn't seem like anyone here has had a problem, but I'm wondering why it did. :confused3
