Are there any foods you will NOT eat? No matter what?

I have a couple...I can't eat coconut or anything with coconut in it...makes me gag. I also can't stand squash. That I could probably take a "no thank you" helping of and choak down. Cooked carrots are like squash...I could force it down, but it would be a struggle.

I have to agree with the coconut!!! ICK!!! My father would by those Entermanns raspberry danish ALL the time and I had a piece one day and spit it out (I was a kid). He couldn't understand why I didn't like it and didn't believe me when I said there was coconut in it :confused3 He had to read the box's ingredients and find it to believe it. It doesn't matter how small an amount, I can taste it :scared:

Fungus. I absolutely do NOT eat fungus. Icky.

Oooohhh, I LOVE fungi  just not raw!

I hate peas. I have never eaten one and never will
I also can not stand Rice Puddin. Any other puddin I am okay with but no rice puddin

Pudding is one of those that I could definitely live without. I just don't understand rice or bread pudding :scared: and chocolate doesn't tempt me so I will pass on the puddin. I do however LOVE me some fruit pie ~ strawberry, cherry, blueberry, apple!!!

Feta cheese I used to call dirty foot cheese because of the odor but I tried it recently (I'm 35) and I LOVE it! Same with blue cheese like in dressings or on a nice juicy grilled steak!

Other than that, foods I HATE.....

Salmon, Onions (but I can eat them cooked in a dish), tomatoes as a tomato, any weird fish item ~ squid, snails, oysters, sushi, and I agree with the weird organ meat like intestines, gizzards, brains, etc.

:lmao: I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing WITH you. I've had two husbands who both adored Reuben sandwiches, coffee & beer. (Geez, how could I forget BEER? My standard line is: I'd drink out of puddle before I'd drink beer.)

Anyhow, they'd both constantly say "Just is wonderful, just TASTE THIS". Every time, I'd taste it and say "Yup - still hate it".

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: DH does this to me EVERY time he tries a new beer. "This one is different, you might like it." And EVERY time, it looks and smells like SKUNK PEE!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The nastiness is all the same in ever single one, whether it's dark, light, low carb, or has freaking lime in it. I just don't like BEER!

I'm an adventurous eater. I will try most anything. I like most everything. I do not like sweetbreads. If they called it what it really is nobody would eat it.

Rhubarb .............. gag...........
Oysters on the half shell ............. gag..............
Organ meats.....I could choke them down better than rhubarb and raw oysters, but I prefer to stay away from them.

This summer my SIL brought fried chicken gizzards and hearts to my MILs. No thanks.

Other than that I'm a really adventurous eater. Love all kinds of weird things.

bananas, hominy, grits, liver, salmon (yes, I know I live in the Pacific NW and should LOVE salmon, but I'm allergic to it...:scared1: ), salad with dressing other than ranch, blue cheese (used to love it, but with my tumor spitting out hormones, all of a sudden I have a reaction to it. Who knew?:confused3 ), lima beans, coconut (except in pina coladas). I know there's more, but I just can't think of them right now.

Oh, and I hate sandwiches on regular bread. If it is on regular bread, it has to be toasted. Otherwise it has to be on a bun.

I'm pretty adventurous as far as meats go, love it all! Give me meat and potatoes!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stand:

Bacon
Tomatoes
Onions
Coconut
Sausage
Pickles
Any kind of bean
Any kind of fish
Ham
Mushrooms
Caramel
Coleslaw
Raspberries
White chocolate

Here’s a partial list, but I’m sure I‘m forgetting many things.

Meats: liver, oysters, venison (Bambi), rabbit (Thumper), squirrel, organ meats, escargot, veal (ya’ll do know that that’s a BABY cow!) and sushi.

Veggies: mushrooms (a fungus that often grows under poop!), spinach, English peas, green lima beans, okra, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, beets, cucumbers, and asparagus.

Fruits: coconut (a texture and taste thing) and blueberries.

Other: yogurt, cottage cheese, any other cheese except Kraft American or pizza cheese, sour cream (tells ya right in the name that it’s gone bad!), mayo or anything made with even a tiny bit of mayo, such as potato salad or Cole slaw. I like many types of nuts, but can't eat them prepared inside of other foods.

That's just the partial list of things I will gag on if I try to eat them. The list of foods I just don't especially care for is far too long to write out. Still, I have managed to attend many dinner parties without my host/hostess ever realizing that I ate very little.

Ok, I understand not wanting to eat venison or rabbit b/c they are cute animals but veal? Have you ever seen a baby cow? they aren't cute at all! They are ugly creatures, just like big cows... so you have to come up with another excuse for veal...

All others are acceptable.

I cannot eat rabbit, just out of principle.

And I cannot eat bananas. Even the smell of it makes me feel sick. Cocktails with banana liquor in it? forget it! Having scooped ice creams, where teh previous person wanted banana ice cream? I will taste it on mine, and throw up.

ETA: I hate all sweet fruity stuff that is served with dinner, think apple sauce, or cranberry-whatever

Also, when on vacation in the US, I will avoid at all costs okra, chili, and BBQ beans, BBQ sauce, BBQ whatever.

veal (ya’ll do know that that’s a BABY cow!)

It's interesting you give this comment for veal, yet you haven't listed lamb, which is essentially a baby sheep.

I would say, however, that the conditions which veal is often kept in make it a morally questionable choice, although I do eat it occasionally.

I hate eating bananas. To the point that I didn't eat one for years and the assorted nutritional goodness made me rethink it and try one. As a joke, I wrote it on a calender (we were tracking our jogging and other things). My dbf's mother read it, and after awhile it had sunk it and she yelled out "Hope ate a banana!" to her dh while in the car. I also decided bananas aren't worth it.

I also leave crusts. But only sometimes. Like fresh baked pizza crusts I will leave but I will eat reheated ones. Normal pie crusts I'll leave, but I do like the graham cracker crusts.

Oysters, mussels, and meat with bones in it are also on the list.

ok, I want to know: what are sweetbreads?

I wouldn't eat pigs feet, souse meat, liver pudding, oyster stew. But those are pretty extreme and not likely to be offered too many places other than Grandma's house. I'll eat pretty much anything else.

I'm blessed with a child (3 1/2) who will eat pretty much anything. There are very few things he'll turn down.

I will not eat FRUIT of any kind. Nadda, zip zero zilch. I will starve to death first. It's actually the only reason I never auditioned for survivor. I'd never survive!

I also will not drink WINE. EVER.

yeah fruit pie is good. But home made. Not frozen. I know there is one brand of frozen that leaves a bad taste in my mouth no matter what.

Most meat. I gagged yesterday cutting up my son's hot dog at a BBQ. I hate the smell, the look, the sound. I am gagging right now.

Once in a while I will eat chicken - only after I have picked through and made sure its all snaggly icky free. And I will usually only have a few bites. Then my stomach starts turning. I am about 95% vegetarian.

Any veggie you throw my way, however, will be ingested no problemo!

I consider myself to be a somewhat adventurous eater.

But there still are some things I can't eat.

Cooked celery. Raw is fine and some things NEED cooked celery, like soup but I just pick it out and don't let it near my mouth.

Fennel. Ew.

Maple syrup. The smell of this stuff turns my stomach.

Ranch dressing. I like the way food tastes, I don't need to drown it in spiced buttermilk goo to block that out.

Breafast sausage. I can't stabd the smell of it. Other kids of sausage are fine.

Lima beans are not even allowed in the house.

I just can't eat brains. Maybe one day I'll become a zombie and develop a taste for them, but for now I'll just pass, thanks.

ok, I want to know: what are sweetbreads?

Sweetbreads are the thymus glands and/or pancreas of calves, lambs and piglets under one year old.Sweetbreads are considered a delicacy. I was going to post a picture buy why ruin a perfectly good thread!

You're right. It was an oversight on my part....I don't eat lamb either, for exactly that reason. I just can't eat a baby anything.

I will eat eggs, but I can't think about them too much beforehand. After just thinking about it in this context for a moment here, I probably won't be eating an egg in the next few weeks. That little umbilical cord just skeeves me out.
