Inspired by the Picky Eater thread

Brussel sprouts! :scared: No way, no how! I can gag down about anything else but brussel sprouts.

I won't eat any sort of mussels, oysters, and any other weird seafood. I only like shrimp if it's fried. I'm really picky about fish, but I'll usually at least try it. Shellfish? Not so much.

No organ meats or innards or gizzards. Of any animal.

I could choke down most veggies if it depended on politeness, except cauliflower or brussel sprouts or cooked spinach. I'd have to politely decline. Or risk throwing up.

But basically, there are a lot of other foods that I don't really like, but it wouldn't kill me to eat.

liver
mushrooms
ranch dressing
Oysters
visible fat on any meat. (My family makes fun of me the way I dissect my steaks. )

I have a love/hate thing going with cheese and nuts:

Pecans, walnuts, almonds make me gag. But chestnuts, peanuts and pistachios I love. :confused3

Same with cheese -- Mozzarella, swiss, provalone, parmesan, romano, meunster? :thumbsup2
Brie, feta, blue cheese? :scared:

Helene...how do you survive in PA without doing meat and potatos? That must be really hard! The best recommendation for a dinner out where my in-laws are is "you get a lot" and they're referring to red meat!
.

Some of my friends/family still refuse to believe I don't eat steak/burgers and keep trying to get me to eat them? its very weird... leave it go people.. I just don't like red meat. I get the "how can you not like burger's" question almost every time I"m at at cookout... These are people I've known for at least 20 years... I don't know why its so hard to believe.. I"m not lying.. I don't go to Mickey'ds when no one is looking.. I just don't like em... :confused3

OHHH, I forgot this! I can't stand fat, gristle, or anything like that. :scared1:

I forgot burgers (and hot dogs). I haven't eaten a burger in years and have no desire to do so.
Forgot chicken wings (skin, bones, fat... all rolled into one :scared1: ) and hard boiled eggs -- can't even stand the smell of them.

OK, now I think I'm done

absolutely will not eat:
Quiches
Scrambled eggs (I have a intolerance to egg yolk when served straight, and i will projectile vomit)

Foods I prefer not to eat:

Asparagus
Beans
Potato Salad
Coleslaw
Coffee flavored items
Okra

The foods on my prefer not to list I almost never eat. Usually these things are just part of a meal and not all of it. If these items have been a featured item of a meal at a small dinner party i will graciously choke down some baked beans, or potato salad my mom's neighbor says is her best dish, or a little fried okra, or tiramisu in the name of being polite to a host. Outside of the Egg yolk intolerance/allergy i will choke down 1-2 bites of anything. If it is a larger dinner party i will dodge those items unless the host comes to me and specifically says i absolutely must try her "____", but this has only happened once or twice.

It is a fine line between my wants and being polite. Generally i will squash my petty little food quirk and be polite and taste what has been put in front of me. I may only eat a little if i don't like it but I will try it and thank the cook.

coffee
Raspberries or anything raspberry flavored
and there is lots of fish/seafood I don't like

:lmao: I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing WITH you. I've had two husbands who both adored Reuben sandwiches, coffee & beer. (Geez, how could I forget BEER? My standard line is: I'd drink out of puddle before I'd drink beer.)

Anyhow, they'd both constantly say "Just is wonderful, just TASTE THIS". Every time, I'd taste it and say "Yup - still hate it".

Liver
Organ meats
Brussel Sprouts
Cooked spinach
Beets
Oatmeal

I grew up a picky eater, but I always felt guilty about it. I got better as I got older, and now I'm more adventurous than my parents ever were. That being said, there are a couple foods I cannot eat. The biggie? Onions. It's not that I don't like the way they taste. I love things cooked with onions! I cook with onions all the time for my DH (he gets to eat them), but there's just something about the texture or whatever I cannot handle. I have an honest to god gag reflex. I can be eating something and enjoying it, and then suddenly realize there's onions in it and have to physically prevent myself from just spewing everywhere.

It's makes work lunches rather difficult to handle at times. Onions are in just about everything, if you think about it. I had a burger at a work related lunch the other day and there were onion baked into my burger!!! What the heck am I supposed to do if I can't even safely order a burger?! My boss's secretary was asking me if I was okay and everything...guess I was turning green. In all honesty, I wish I didn't have this problem.

Are there any foods you will NOT eat? No matter what?

I have a couple...I can't eat coconut or anything with coconut in it...makes me gag. I also can't stand squash. That I could probably take a "no thank you" helping of and choak down. Cooked carrots are like squash...I could force it down, but it would be a struggle.

I love all the things you hate. You should try fried squash. mmmm.

Here's my list...I hate lobster w/ drawn butter. The end.

I can't think of anything that makes me gag- I could have a "no thank you" bite of just about anything, I think. I really dislike organ meats (liver, brains, intestines, etc) and a few veggies (okra if it's slimy, collard greens), but I could have one bite if it meant being polite.

Even the sight, smell, or THOUGHT of bananas makes me gag. Excuse me while I....

OK, I'm back. I prefer not to eat brussels sprouts or cooked greens, but can. Bananas no way, no how. NEVER.

Veal, just won't do it!!!

Chardonay
, If by some odd chance it makes it into my mouth, I can't swallow it, I have to spit it out. I really really HATE hte taste of it! God bless all of you chardonay drinkers.

Okay I will take you lobster. Then I will add crab, corn bread , and I am so good to go.

I miss having crabs:sad2:

I cannot eat lima beans whatsoever!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao:

Sorry, mk, couldn't help it!

I guess i am not a picky eater. I won't eat liver. My mom used to make it which meant I had to eat it. YUK YUK DOUBLE YUK! I won't eat weird stuff: rabbit, snake, bugs, etc.

There are plenty of foods I'd (almost)never prepare myself or order if I went out, but if I were at someone's home and it was served, I'd survive.

I don't think there are enough characters allowed in one post to type out all of the things I either have an allergy to or don't like ;)

There is one great thing about being an adult - NEVER having to eat something I don't like :thumbsup2

I absolutely do not find it rude at all to say a "no thank you" to anything that I don't want to put into my body for any reason ;)

I don't do mayo, red beans, whole cut tomatoes(but I'll do cooked down ones), or beer!

My sister is horrible! She has an issue with textures- no ketchup, mayo, mustard, any lotions, she will do jello, but no pudding- I guess that jello is a little bit more solid?! But I can still pass it though my teeth, so I consider jello and pudding along the same line of consistency!:confused3

My husband on the other hand swears he eats anything! But i've seen him pass up some of my cooking before!!:rotfl:

Oooooh Mayo that's another one! I dont understand how oil and eggs taste good? bleh!!!!!!!!!! and they have it sit on a shelf NOT refrigerated?? How in the world does it not go bad?? Can't do it.. wont do it cant make me!!
