Nope

I travel weekly for work and I carry on a legal size roll-a-board that holds all my clothes and a pair of shoes for the week and my laptop. Then a backpack that holds my C-Pap machine, magazine, snacks, medications and my purse. I've been able to do up to a 7-8 day trip with my carry on and back pack.

Crumpler six million bag holds my camera gear, phone, mp3 etc. which goes under the seat. Rolling bag checked with my shoes and a tote on the outside compartment. Just in case I go over the weight limit (been there done that) I can take the tote out and carry my shoes.
I never put anything crushable in the overhead compartment anymore after my flash was broken when someone crammed a very heavy bag in on top of DSs camera bag.
