I can say with pride that I conquered the Summit. :D It was quite a rush, not like any other waterslide I've been on. Will I do it again? I guess it depends how much DH wants to ride it. If he does, I'll go. If not, I can say I've done it and I don't need to do it again. ;)

What about you? Tell me your stories. :D

I have not done it but dh stood in line 30 minutes once to go down it. He really liked it but said it was rough on the hiney. I dont care for that type if stuff so I passed.

My 1st time (yes, I'm a pro now, lol!) was in 09/2001. My then-13 yr old dd was with me-her 1st time too. I was an old lady of 40, so pretty proud of myself! :D I will admit, I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life as during the long climb up to the summit. My heart was pounding so hard--I think I was having a panic attack! I kept focusing on a little girl of maybe 9 or 10 who was with her dad in line in front of us. She was scared too, and her dad kept telling her "it's not too bad". I decided that if she went, I was gonna go too. She went  It was quite a rush, but survivable, lol! Now that I'm over my fear, it's lots of fun!

I did it back in October 2001 when I was 36 and I don't need to do it again. :p I enjoyed it but see no need to do it again. I agree it is rough on the hiney.

hi: thoroughly certified chicken here! not only no, but H*** NO! my youngest has done this ride several times over the last 10 years-the first time he did it he was only 6.

I conquered summit plummet in 1997 at the age of 19. I don't think my mom believes me though - I'm sure she still thinks my brother and I made it up. We didn't take pictures to take home and prove it to her (she coudln't make the trip with us, being in charge of your 12 yr old brother for a week is another story). I agree too with the pain in the hiney part - I don't think I've ever had such a wedgie either.

No, never done it, probably never will. I don't care for bodyslides. I like innertube slides much better!

But I did the one at Typhoon Lagoon....that was ENOUGH for ME!!

On a trip a couple of years ago, DH was chosen as the Ski Patrol Captain of the day. We got to go into BB before the gates opened, got free towel rentals, a refillable mug, and a metal on a ribbon. We were also given a chance to go down Summit Plummit to open the park. DH did and enjoyed it, though he has not gone down since, LOL! I was a chicken of course.

Hey Tn4Mickey--
I grew up in the Tri-Cities, in Richland! We travel a long way for our addiction to WDW!

I did Summit Plummit in December--yowzaa! I was VERY frightened, to the point of vertigo, waiting my turn (DON'T try to look over the edge of the slide while waiting!). I did it though, and yes, got quite a wedgie.
My brother describes it as 1/3 air-time in the initial drop, and the remaining 2/3 consists of your butt stopping the fall.

I did it once when I was 36. Once was enough for me. It is an amazing rush. Fortunately it is over quickly.

It is kinda rough on your back and rear. I think the speed and little water create a suction and your back gets sucked against the slide. It felt like someone slapped my back a few times. Also, DW and I both got BIG time wedgies!

I'm not a big thrill ride person so it was neat to do it once to be able to say I did that everytime I see it on tv.

Yes! I did it, not once but twice!!!! First time was the year BB opened. Took me until this past summer to get the nerve up to do it again. Of course, I hadn't been back to BB until then either. The worst part is looking over at the top when you're getting on the slide. My kids and I still tease DH because he walked all the way to the top the first year, looked down, and walked right back down the stairs. This last year he refused to even try it. :p

I took the plunge a couple of years ago. The climb to the top is the scariest part. Waiting in line way up those steps you can see the curvature of the earth ;) The ride was fun but that evening my hips were sore and then I realized it was from smacking the sides on the way down the Summit Plummit.

DH doesn't like water parks, so DS & I usually went to one water park, per trip, while DH did whatever he wanted i.e. slow tour of countries in Epcot or after youngest DS was born, trips to the zoo at Discovery Island. DS & I had no idea how intense Summit Plummet was, but we had done everything else at BB & still had some time until we were to meet DH, so we got on line & waited an awfully long time. But we met a really nice woman from Great Britain, who was waiting to ride alone while her entire family waited for her at the bottom. We chatted & eventually we got to the top. I bravely went down first so I would be at the bottom for my DS. Well, I was so disheveled when I landed that he was down before I was done re-orienting myself. It was a great rush, but once in a lifetime is enough for me, unless youngest DS want to try & I can't convince oldest DS to go with him.

Good to hear there are other nuts out there that have tried this. ;) I agree about the walk up. That's pretty nerve wracking if you have a problem with heights. It would be much better if it had an express elevator. :D

As I approach my golden years I have no desire to turn my vacations into an episode of Fear Factor. Unless I get really drunk someday(not likely at BB) it's not gonna happen.

My first visit to BB was on our honeymoon...DW doesn't really like waterslides and was content to watch me be a little kid. Went on it 12 times that day...didn't realize until the next day how much my shoulders and backside would hurt from skipping across the landing pool like a stone. Now I'll only ride it 5 or so times per visit. :teeth:

DS did it at 9 - I let him go up with DD's boyfriend, thinking for sure he wouldn't make the height requirement, but the guards got a kick out of him and down he came - fortunately for me, he came down faster than I could panic! - help me- he's fearless- and certainly doesn't get it from me - I will never try that one (oh wait, isn't that what I said all my life about upside-down coasters until I rode Hulk on a dare and LOVED it?) - well, maybe some day!:smooth:

My DH and DD (16) absolutely love it. DH kept talking about how when he reached the top, he could see the entire park. He said it was amazing how far he could see. My DD said it was really scary the first time because she couldn't see the slide or drop and it looked like she was sliding our into nothing. My DD said the first time DH went down he sounded like Goofy. You know the sound he makes when he's falling. She never heard her Dad scream so loud. They both came back with black and blue bruises on their "bottoms"

My DH walked around the next day like he was 90. Still, all he talks about is looking forward to the next trip and Summit Plummet. He's trying to convince me to go next time. But honey, you'll love it and I remind him I saw the bruises.....no thanks:D
