I completely agree, JP. But I did have a good laugh about it....she said they spent over an hour one morning looking for the bus to Disney. They stayed at ASMo and SHOULD have been waiting for the Magic Kingdom bus, but instead kept waiting for the bus to Disney. :p She didn't bother to ask anyone for help...just kept waiting! Needless to say, I laughed right out loud at her when she told me that! ;)

This is about the worst one I've heard yet. Someone once told me thay thought they would be able to walk across a street to the "next" park.

Tell me your good ones.

How come the very first thread inspired by me is about being DUMB?!?!?!? :p :p

I have to plead to your example d.kurz. Before I went to WDW the first time I was sure I could just walk where I wanted to go if the bus took too long! I just couldn't get my mind around how VAST it is. And I remember how disappointed I was when our driver took us past the "Welcome to WDW" sign and I couldn't see the castle or Spaceship Earth! Can you tell I just didn't "Get it"??? :p

Well, TerriP, at least you got up to speed and didn't give up!!! And ALL of us know that NO DISers are dumb!!! It's everybody else!

Our neighbor told my DH that they didn't spend more than one day in each park and that they had "done everything". "It's all just a big circle that you walk around, and then you're done" Thank God I wasn't there to hear him say it or I would have gone on and on about it.

Before I did any research on WDW, I do too thought you could walk between the parks.

Hey, it is not such a dumb thought, you can walk between Disneyland (park) and California Adventure (park) and even to Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort.

We have a friend who is going to WDW this fall, and even after explaining to him that he is WRONG,he still thinks he will be able to walk between parks  !!!I mean,we've been there,we are not just trying to pull your leg,it really is THAT BIG ,but he just won't listen!Sigh.....

Fortunately,I found the Dis before I made any faux pas.Actually,I did make one.Thinking my kids would nap in the afternoon at the hotel.Yeah right  ,let's hit the pool mom!

I remember the first time I went, I thought there would be only 1 or 2 hotels & it wouldn't be that BIG.... boy was I surprised.....

People who haven't done their homework just don't understand. Personally I can't see spending that much money on a vacation and NOT doing my homework, but to each his own. :)

Here are some I hear:

1) Calling "Walt Disney World", Disneyland

2) Thinking Disney MGM Studios is part of Universal

3) Believing the monorail to go around to all of the resorts...I wish!

4) Thinking that you can go once and never have to go again!!! :p

I'm always surprised when people tell me that they aren't planning to go to EPCOT because there is nothing for kids to do.

One of my husband's law partners actually said that to my face  He knows better now :)

Was on the bus to DTD and these annoying people who thought they knew it ALL about WDW couldn't figure out why when we pulled up to DTD, they couldn't see the castle or Main Street. All this after having to listen to them the entire trip over.

Oh, and they were going to "straighten out" the whole coffee pot in the room thing. "Do they really expect us to walk to the food court for coffee?"

My MIL and I took DD and my niece to a local amusement park several years ago. While at the sorry excuse for a water park area, she wanted to know why I'd spend all that money to go to Florida when we had such a nice water park right here at home.

If you saw this particular water park, you would laugh.:p

That is puzzling!!

LOL!! Same here. On the last day EVERYBODY napped, except the big kid....me!!

A friend once asked me if they close DisneyWorld when it rains. :p

when i was working as a travel agent, there were several things that really bothered me...but i was a good agent and kept my mouth shut...:teeth:

the first thing was the size of WDW. i had many clients tell me that they could do it all in a day. i sure wouldn't want to be with that bunch by the end of their day!

the second thing was calling the magic kingdom, WDW...no...it's the magic kingdom!

the third thing was believing that you could walk everywhere.

usually the clients would stand their ground and insist that they were right. until i pulled out my birnbaum's book along with a map of WDW. :teeth: then they usually quit talking and let me finish...nevermind that i had told them ihow many times i had been there myself...it took me pulling out the book and the map before they were convinced!

In all fairness, most of the people who call the Magic Kingdom, WDW, are those that remember when all there was to WDW WAS the Magic Kingdom.

And it WAS called WDW! Only when they added EPCOT, did they begin calling the Magic Kingdom that to differentiate.

My first visit to WDW was when it was only the Magic Kingdom and they had ride tickets A through E and you had to buy tickets to get on each of the rides (and that's what they called them, not attractions).

Some things are hard to shake when that's what you grew up with...

My favorite are the people who insist that the Monorail will drop you off in Tomorrowland.

i know that old habits die hard...but it was still one of the things that just got under my skin for some reason :) i tended to ignore it though and would continue the conversation with the correct terms...

Yeah, I've got a couple of friends who do this for that very reason.

And, in all fairness, I suspect those of us who grew up with Disneyland being *just* the one park are always going to call that park Disneyland, even though they are now calling it either the Magic Kingdom (as well) or Disneyland PARK (as opposed to Disneyland Resort).

It does, Olena! At DisneyLAND. ;)

When I went with my boyfriend for the first time, he couldn't believe that all of those roads that connect the parks and the resorts were a part of Disney. It took him a couple of days to get it through his head.
