...has anyone else adopted a baby/child? Or, is anyone adopted and wants to share what it's like?

Our DD, now 17, came to us from S. Korea at 4mos. old and she only weighed 8 lbs. (like a newborn). She's always known she's adopted and we always kid her that we got "the craziest kid they had"! She was a cutie as a child and she's a beauty as a young woman. She's our only child, and she's a wonderful daughter. We were going for a second Korean adoption, but it was at the time of the Seoul Olympics and Bryant Gumbel was reporting from there and giving statistics of the area and mentioned that among the exports S. Korea has were "babies".

Well, the Korean government didn't take to kindly to that and we were called to a special meeting by the adoption agency to tell everyone that was "waiting" that it wasn't going to happen. Of course, we were disappointed, but at least we had Carly. There were couples there who just "lost it" because this was going to be their 1st child and they had waited so long already. So sad.

Anybody else have a special story?

Carly is a very lucky girl to have found such good parents!
My SIL & BIL have a daughter who is 3 years old that was adopted from China & just last Thursday they were blessed with a 2nd child, a beautiful 7-1/2 month old girl from Korea.
As long as I do the posting correctly you should be able to see a picture of my DD holding my new niece
