Oh and so he doesn't feel left out...

Muddy my 6 inch Pleco Catfish (who has outgrown his tank):

I can't believe how hardy these little fish are! They are so outgoing. It's funny how the females gather round when I look at the tank. I have the females in one tank and the male in another. My male has built a bubble nest since he was moved closer to the ladies ;) I may try breeding when I can find some more inexpensive tanks.

The catfish (Muddy) I have is 3 1/2 years old. I bought him to maintain a tank of Tiger Barbs I was keeping. Well they died long ago and here he is at almost 7 inches long! He was an inch when I got him!

You have very pretty fish!!! I miss having a few around the house :) Thanks for sharing your pics :)

I love to watch fish. They are so calming.

Wow, neat!

I was *totally* floored by how interactive Azzie is. And how excited he was to be out of that tiny cup and in his larger (even if it is just 1/2 gallon) tank. He spent the first two days swimming around almost constantly (this from the fish I thought did nothing but sit there!) then started building his bubble nest last night, and when I came in this morning there was a nice large bubble nest at the top of the bowl/tank (is it technically a tank if it isn't mechanical with a filter and stuff?).

Today he was more lethargic, but in a "phew!" type of way rather than an "ew, something's wrong" way, if that makes any sense. And any time I stood up and approached his little tank, he went nearly wild with excitement. It was so cute! He even tried jumping out of the tank once after I fed him (it has a vented lid so he didn't do anything more than break the surface) and he gets so excited at feeding time. It's so cute!

I know, I know... I'm easily amused by this thing. But it's been *years* since I had a fish of my own, and I'm really enjoying it. I've even infected my parents now -- they just got their first aquarium in...oh...nearly 20 years? And they got a betta (named him Indy for Indigo) who is supposed to be very similar in coloring (I see him tomorrow :teeth: ) and a 3-gallon tank to put him in. These are the same people who swore up and down that they never wanted another fish tank again when I first started considering it two years ago. ;)

Calming, relaxing, and he's an anti-depressant for me. ;) I was so down on Tuesday, then got Azzie on Wednesday and the week went from dark to enjoyable. :)

Love this fish! :D

ever since I caught our cat "devil boy" with his entire head submerged in the fish bowl trying to get the Betta fish (he eventually succeeded  ) we figured we couldn't have a fish bowl in the same house with this cat:rolleyes:

It's funny but my cats have no interest in any other pets in the household. I've had everything from ferrets to turtles and they don't give a hoot. My guinea pig is more interested in them than they are in him.

well OTIS is still swimming around and is a little stinker.....I had to put the cover on his little tank last night cause he was jumping so much...didnt' want to find him on the kitchen counter.....we have had a few casualties......poor Indy was flushed into the big grey treatment plant for the city.....made me sad.....but he just didnt' look good from the first week we had him.......he has been here only 8 months and Otis is almost three.....he is wicked smart too

i got a betta named Clarance back in january and hes still awesome :o) i love the way he attacks his food in the morning :o) he lives in a bowl on a shelf in my room and just cruises around all day. basically, he rocks my socks! oh and BTW, epcotfan, you are my hero because you know strongbad, and not many people do, and im obsessed :o)

Your Bettas are beautiful! A year and a half ago my DH got me a huge tank for Christmas. We had a smaller one in the past and he knew I had enjoyed it hence the larger one. We started out with 21 fish. (Not all at once.) In the last year and a half I have managed to do in all but 3 of them. We had a really hard time getting the tank to 'settle'. Finally I just said to heck with it and shortly after that...magic...the tank is perfect. So now I have this huge tank with 3 fish... 2 zebras and my favorite, my Angel. He is huge, of course, he pretty much has the tank to himself, so it's no wonder. He is a black & silver beauty. I want to add more fish but am going to wait until after vacation. We are also buying an automatic fish feeder this year, tried the food pellets last year and the angel almost died. Sorry, no picture.

KILLER ......he got his name after we kept on finding all the other fish gone or mutilated......you know...pieces missing....well killer was the one........but he was gorgeous....
