Inspired by olympic judging - how many Sports Officials on the DIS?

I've been a USA Hockey ice hockey referee for about 6 years. Just got my renewal forms in the mail last week, used the new online registration system, and got my test in the mail today.

Any other refs and/or umpires out there? What sport do you work? How long have you been doing it?

I am certified to do HS volleyball and basketball. DH does basketball, football and volleyball - plus was working his way up the baseball ladder (semi-pro) when he decided to settle down instead.

I have been in "the biz" for 15 years - DH probably more like 20 or so.

You certainly have to have a thick skin.... although I believe the all time easiest sport to officiate is volleyball. Nobody knows the rules and nobody cares. Ever listen to the conversation at a volleyball game? It has nothing to do with what is going on on the court..... unless it has to do with playing time or lack thereof.

Only 1 other ref out there? Based on the number of people registered on these boards, I expected more.
