Inspired by....Odds of getting Illuminations Cruise

I've booked 4 Illuminations B'day Cruises in the past few yrs and each time I've called the required 60 days out, due to high demand in the Summer.

Today I booked a June 5 Wishes B'day Cruise and was shocked to have no problem, then I checked the calendar to see that it is exactly 60 days out, just dumb luck. I am wondering if Wishes cruise will become as popular as Illuminations now that the Grand Gatherings Wishes Event has become so popular? I orginally tried to book that and it was full weeks ago. Does anyone know if this the MK fireworks B'day cruise has been around for a long time and how difficult it's been to book?

I could be wrong, but isn't the booking window 90 days?
Anyway, we have never had any trouble booking a Wishes Cruise well into the booking window. I'm not sure if it's lack of demand, or a lot of boats.
I am looking forward to the Wishes boats being equipped with sound. I think that will improve the cruise tremendously

MG you are right! Now I'm even more surprised...I've always booked the B'day Cruise, for a few more bucks we can have desert and "soda/pop" while watching. I was told the B'day cruise is in very high demand, that must be only for Illuminations. The first time I booked I was told that there are only 1(maybe 2) birthday boats available for Fireworks, my DGK always think they are at the best party since they ride the pretty boat all decked out with banner and balloons etc.

I wonder if they will ever put the music on board those boats. Someone mentioned that the regular fireworks pontoons park near the GG boats so they heard the music.

I'm sure we'll have a good time, but I really wish DVC and
GG folks would get a better system because that is what caused me to opt for the B'day boat.

We've never tried one of the MK fireworks cruises. We have done the Illuminations cruise twice and each time our guide said the MK cruise offer a great view but are disappointing without the sound.

we did a wishes cruise in december and yes there was music on board. we are going back in august and will be trying to get an illuminations cruise, which i hear is pretty difficult to get.

I tried one trip to book an Ill. cruise (May). 5 mornings in a row. Missed it each time. I did the redial thing, over and over, starting a couple minutes before they opened. One morning I connected within seconds of 9. It was booked!

They told me it usually books within 15 seconds.

I did everything that AllEars said. What's the secret??????


Addendum: 30 minutes after I had just missed, I saw a post HERE from someone who had gotten that cruise and was looking to share it. I passed since I was TICKED at the time. Oh well.

Pure luck and persistence. My wife and I actually each got a cruise for the same day last August, we ended up with two bookings without knowing it.

Next time I'm gonna get my wife and 3 kids on all our phones and cell phones working on it at the same time. Now I'm determined.
