Inspired by My dog ate... what has your dog eaten

Cat box crunchies- EEW! But funny way to put it!

Put one dog on a diet. Found bottom half of squireel in yard.

With our new dog-
Son had friend over. When it was time to go home friend couldn't find his sneakers. "cause they were out in the yard half eaten.

I can't remember anything strange that any of my dogs ate. I did have a cat that loved to eat tinsel off the Christmas tree. My Aunt had an English Setter that pulled a bath towel off her clothes line and ate the whole thing. They had to bring him to the Vet's offie when he started to pass it and the vet had to tranquilze him and use forceps to pull the thing out of him.

Our labs have consumed:

1/2 of a hot tub cover.
Crayons.
Wood fencing.
A small plastic children's swimming pool.
The entire back yard sprinkler system -- even the pop-up heads.
The electrical wiring from our utility trailer.
The hose and attachments off the vaccuum cleaner (they hate the vaccuum).
A lightbulb.
A couple of shoes (always the expensive ones -- never the cheap ones).
A rosebush.
A dwarf lemon tree.
5-6 watering hoses.
A wind chime.
A few tennis balls.
Rocks and tan bark.
The arms from my daughters Little Mermaid doll (she still has not forgiven this).

The best was an entire tube of toothpaste -- my friend was visiting and screaming "My god he's foaming at the mouth - run for your life".

There seems to be a trend with the Labs. Our rottweiler has eaten:
5lbs of Halloween Candy (wrapers and all, we found them in the backyard pooped out!)
2lbs of Ghiradelli's chocolate (didn't get sick)
1 large marble ( had to be extrzcted through the butt with this long grabby thing at the vet $400)
13 white powdered chocolate cream filled donuts (do you see the chocolate pattern)
1 Nintendo Control
and the best...
1 LARGE river rock that had to removed ($1500) 9 days before our Disney Trip last year!
I put a DNR on his vet chart (DO NOT REMOVE) :rotfl:
Our vet and his poor staff knows us all to well!

Everything!!
A neighbor's chicken
He once tried to eat a can of paint  Reached up on the countertop.....chewed it open (this was a gallon can). Paint all over the room and him. Luckily he was confined in one room. What a mess and the middle of winter, so he got a very cold bath outside.
Shoes all the time......
Anything he could reach and get into was eaten or at least chewed up.

When our yellow lab Suzy was 3 months old she ate an entire bar of Irish spring soap :earseek: . she loves soap we have to put it up so she can't get to it. she also loves toothpaste. We have to lock the bathroom door while brushing our teeth. the other day she ate a large marble and I was really worried thinking it would be to big to pass. but when I checked her poop there it was. it looked like microphone :teeth: She also loves thongs she'll nose open my drawers and root around till she finds them (leaves the cheap Wal-mart briefs alone goes straight fo the VS) and shreds them

My husbands motto is: Where it lays, it stays.

My dogs motto is: If it lays, is mine.

We had one doxie eat frog once, she spent the night at vet's office. Scooter a german shepherd we had, destroyed two remote controls in one week. Thankfully we were able to have them replaced for free. Scooter also bit through a bic lighter. Thankfully he wasn't hurt from that experience. Simon destroyed two pairs of shoes in one week.

These are the funniest posts! I can't believe some of the things these dogs have eaten! (And lived to tell about it!!)

My lab/shepard Shadow is pretty calm. He is picky too. He usually will not eat anything that we would not eat and when it comes to veggies etc he just spits them out. Once however, I had a pan of lasagna cooling on the counter awaiting my husband. When he got home he told me the kids had eaten most of it but he finished it off. I KNEW the kids hated it so when I asked them if they ate it they said NO WAY! That left only Shadow. Yuk.

Shoes, socks, boots, stuffed toys and a SOFA! She was 1/2 golden and I think it took her a long time to mature and grow out of that stage.

The yuckiest thing she ever ate was a dead frog that she found on the sidewalk during our walk. It was dark and it wasn't until we got back to the house that I noticed she was bringing something inside with her. OH YUCK. Got her to drop it but that was gross.

My greyhound ate a whole box of Crayolas. He had rainbow poo for a couple days. :rotfl:

My sofa. :sad2: I was NOT amused..
Crayons crayons and more crayons
dog bed
napkins
tissues
paper
Chapstick
shoes
shirts
4 sticks of butter at once. LOL
Barbies
Polly Pockets
Scooby Doo-the toy not the actual dog;)
Vacuum cleaner cord
and most recently-a pan of brownies.

my dog, in his prime, once ate THREE copies of the book Crime and Punishment. He went into my backpack, rooted past all the other books and shredded that particular novel. Imagine trying to explain to your very mean english teacher that your dog ate not one not two but three cpoies of the same book!!!!
He loves anything paper related he just rips and tears and shreds! he also went through a phase sortly after I went away to college where he's carrymy left shoe with him whereever he'd go!

our 1 year old rottie ate our dining room table and chairs and has eaten part of the wall!! they've all had chocolate and lived to tell the tale.

While preparing Thanksgiving dinner circa 1990, DW took the dough for the dinner rolls to a warm spot in the house so it could rise. Our English Springer Spaniel found the dough that would have produced two dozen rolls and ate it. The dough rised in the dog's stomach :scared1: You know the phrase "sick as a dog"? She was so sick all night. You should try finding a vet on Thanksgiving night. The dog survived for many years subsequent to this memorable night.
