We did this today in class and I thought it would be fun to share. Post links if you can!

All of us at one time or another have had a fantasy of inheriting or perhaps winning a huge fortune. We often imagine that our lives would change dramatically because of this new wealth. Some of us would travel the world while others would buy all the luxuries we desired. For this exercise I would like you to imagine that you have been given $500 million dollars and can spend it in any way you see fit. The catch, however, is that you must give $100 million dollars to charity if you are to be allowed the rest.

First, the fun stuff:

What type of car would you buy? A 1967 (the one linked is a '68) Dodge Charger, a 1967 Ford Mustang, a 2008 Chevy Silverado, a Fat Tracker bike from Exile Cycles, and The Trike from Exile Cycles.

Where would you build your primary residence and what would it be like? Someplace like this in Ireland.

Would you have a vacation home and where would it be? A penthouse apartment in Paris, an apartment in Quebec City, and a place like this in Fiji.

List at least 3 luxury goods or products that you would buy with your newly found wealth. I'd outfit my entire wardrobe from Roots because I simply love their clothes, a yacht akin to this one, and a Segway.

Would you travel and if so where? List at least 3 places that you would want to see. Egypt to see the pyramids, Greece to visit the ruins and to see the birthland of modern track and field/the Olympics, China to walk the entire Great Wall.

Would you help your friends and family? How would you do this; be specific. I would pay for my cousins and my nephew to go through college and I'd pay for their primary schooling. I'd pay off my mom's car loan, too.

Now for the Philanthropy...

List 3 local charities that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. The Conway Area Humane Society- $2,000,000. The Gibson Center- $3,000,000. Salyards Center for the Arts- $4,000,000

List at least 3 national or international charities or causes that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. (RED)- $45,000,000. Lance Armstrong Foundation- $13,000,000. The National Breast Cancer Foundation- $13,000,000.

What type of car would you buy? I'd get a Jaguar, one like this. I love the round headlights and the retro feel of it.

Where would you build your primary residence and what would it be like? I'd probably stay in Rhode Island or move to Orlando. I'd live in a big wealthy house in EG or Coweset. I love those houses. I don't know about Orlando. Big nice house though.

Would you have a vacation home and where would it be? London and Paris. Apartments probably.

List at least 3 luxury goods or products that you would buy with your newly found wealth. Uhhhh.... I really don't know.

Would you travel and if so where? List at least 3 places that you would want to see. All around the US. It's my own backyard and I've barely been anywhere. Mount Rushmore. I really want to stay in NYC for a while. Then I'd really want to go to the pyramids. They must be so beautiful in person.

Would you help your friends and family? How would you do this; be specific.
Pay off my parent's debts and loans and whatever. Pay for my brother's sister's and my own schooling. Just help out.

Now for the Philanthropy...

List 3 local charities that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. I don't really know much about my local charities.

List at least 3 national or international charities or causes that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. First book, St. Judes, and (Red) but I don't know how much.


This just proves that I really don't know what I'd do with $500 million dollars.

I have NO idea what'd I'd do with $500 million dollars.
After paying for my and my sibling's schooling, and helping my parents out, and maybe one big shopping spree, I'd probably save most of it.
Then I'd travel. Like, EVERYWHERE.
And I'd donate the rest. Mostly to St. Jude's and The National Breast Cancer Foundation, and also to the research of pancreatic cancer, genocide prevention, and to help woman's and children's shelters.
Kinda boring, but yeah, I don't need too much else.

Where would you build your primary residence and what would it be like? A nice big house in D.C. But I'd also like an apartment in NYC.

Would you have a vacation home and where would it be? Small places in France, Russia, and Italy. Not sure where exactly.

Would you travel and if so where? List at least 3 places that you would want to see. I've always wanted to take my mom to Egypt. Rome. And I know this sounds weird, but I've always wanted to visit Aushwitz-Birkenau.

Would you help your friends and family? How would you do this; be specific. I would pay off my parents house and bills. My grandma's and aunt's bills. Pay for my baby cousins to have the best schooling possble. And move all these people to the places they've always dreamed of.

Now for the Philanthropy...

List 3 local charities that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. 5 million to the local Goodwill. 8 million to our local womens/childrens shelters. 10 million to Jones Center (it's a crisis center for sexual abuse victims)

List at least 3 national or international charities or causes that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. 50 million to Feed The Children. 30 million to Doctors Without Borders. 20 Million to St. Judes.

I would put my sister through college, and help my parents with anything they need.

American Diabetes Assiciation.-70,000.00, National Breast Cancer Association-15,000.00, and St. Judes Childrens hospital-15,000.00

I'd buy a plain car, like a Chevy Impala.
I'd buy a Volkswagen Camper.
And then I'd just like to have an SUV =)

Where would you build your primary residence and what would it be like? I think I'd like to live somewhere, possibly in Toronto or somewhere in France.

Would you have a vacation home and where would it be?
I'd love to have just a plain simple home somewhere in Orlando, a house on the beach in Australia and maybe a summer cottage in Shediac =)

1) Jet 2) Possibly some designer clothes. Not a lot though. 4) Expensive camera with different lenses, and stuff. Then I'd probably like to find someone who could teach me how to use them.

Would you help your friends and family? How would you do this; be specific. Of course I would help. I'd probably give my parents enough money to retire on, that would probably make their day. I'll assume my brother would be done school by the time I get this money, so if he had an student loans, house loans or whatever that needed to be paid off, I'd definitely pay for that. If I had the money right now, I'd pay him through school. I'd probably pay for my cousin to get through school too. And my friends, I'd share my wealth with them. I'm not sure if I'd ever just give them money, or if I'd just be very very giving when I hang out with them.

Now for the Philanthropy...

List 3 local charities that you would give to and how much money you would give to each. Headstart, Christmas Daddies and the SPCA. I'm not sure on how much I would give each. Headstart and Christmas Daddies would get the bulk of whatever I chose to donate.

Make Wish Foundation.
Terry Fox Foundation.
Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Not sure again on how much money, I think the last would get the most. My grandmother died of congenital heart failure, or possibly a stroke (she may have had one a couple days before she passed).

Would you have a vacation home and where would it be? A gorgeous apartment in Paris, an apartment on the Upper Eat Side of Manhattan, a home in LA, a home in Florida (easy access to WDW) and a nice little cottage in Australia (come on, I have 500 million$...I can have as many houses as I want!)
List at least 3 luxury goods or products that you would buy with your newly found wealth. A pool with a huge slide, tons of designer clothes, a REALLY nice digital camera that could take amazing photos, a trampoline and all the DVDs I could ever want

Would you help your friends and family? How would you do this; be specific. I'd pay for all my cousins to get through university, I'd pay for my boyfriends brother & sister to go to university, I'd also pay off all his debts from school. I'd pay for any medical expenses for ANYTHING in my family (I have a very small family mind you, and there aren't many huge medical expenses in Canada) and I'd pay for us ALL to go to WDW together (I'd just but like, a floor @ AKL and everyone could do their own thing)
Now for the Philanthropy...
