Have your tastes in decorating changed? Is there a color you used to use in the decor of your home that now you don't really care for anymore?

I used to like mauve a lot back about 10 yrs. ago and now I don't care for it much.

I've used peach & green in my living room for a long time and haven't gotten tired of it.

Yep, and I wonder why on earth I chose that color. lol

My tastes have defintely changed over the years. I used to absolutely HATE cherry wood, now I look at it and really like it, I know that's a sign of getting old. LOL

Mine have definitely changed. A few years ago - I would have never imagined using the color I just used in the bathroom. And when we first done painting - one of the first things dd said was - Now we can hold a DIS meet in the bathroom - and I thought...OMG it's so bright....but now that we are done - I really like it. I'm working on uploading pics to post....

It's funny, but there are definitely trends when it comes to colors. When we were first married (mid 80's) mauve and dustry blue were popular. By the 90's forest green and cranberry were really big. Now it seems like the terracottas, olives, and more muted colors are what's popular. You can always tell the "in" colors by looking at appliances and tupperware colors I say!

I always try to decorate with colors that aren't popular. That way your house never looks dated. Unfortuntely, a couple of times I was ahead of the curve and something became popular a couple of years after I used it, so that plan has been foiled!

I have to admit that my color preferences are fickle. I had the dusty blue and rose colors for a while, then I had forest green, and now I actually have a leopard print living room with lots of brown and black furniture. If you would have told me 10 years ago that I'd someday pay real money for a solid brown suede couch, I'd have laughed at you.
