This thread is inspired by one posted earlier today regarding the disappoinment of no being able to dock at Castaway Cay. My questions are:
What month did you sail?
Were you able to dock at Castaway Cay?
How many times have you cruised DCL?

I was told by several CMs that the docking rate at CC in the fall and winter is roughly 50%. Some people think that's high and some people say it's never a problem. Just want to try to get some "real" numbers from the dissers. We're way more accurate or at least wayyyyy more fun than a scientific poll. :p

What month did you sail? August

Were you able to dock at Castaway Cay? Yes

How many times have you cruised DCL? 1

Sailed in October 3X and was able to dock each time.

Sailed in January 1X and was able to dock.

Have sailed on DCL 4x

Sailed in May 2 times, August once, and November once. Docked all 4 times.

50% seems way high to me. I would think that if 50% of the time people didn't dock at Castaway Cay we would hear more about it on the boards. It doesn't seem to be that common of a theme on here though.

Feb - docked 2x
August - docked 1x
Sept - docked 2x
Nov - docked 1x

Cruising again this November - fully expect to be docking again.

Sailed in Oct. of '99 - did not dock due to hurricane damage on the island.

Sailed in May of '01 - docked

Sailed in May of '02 - docked

Sailed in Feb. of '03 - docked 2 different days (DVC member cruise went to Castaway Cay twice).

Sailed in May of '03 - docked

We we've sailed 5 times and docked 5 times but not once each trip. :D

beginning of January 1x
end of January 2x
August 1x

docked at Castaway Cay everytime

Docked at CC in March, June and August.

We didn't get to Grand Cayman once because of wind, and high seas. I think the weather has to be more calm for the tenders than to dock somewhere.

Anyhow... cruised April.. docked no problem
cruised December twice docked again no problem.....

We went last Nov. and were able to dock. The ship almost tilted into the ocean as we were docking causing many plates to brake, people to fall and the pools to spill over our verandah but we docked. A great adventure (depending on who you ask) and Castaway Cay as well.

September, 1999 - No Castaway Cay (But we rescued residents before the hurricane)

January, 2000 = docked (it was GREAT!!)

Halloween, 2001 - No Castaway Cay (but a truly valiant effort)

Asking Santa for fair winds, clear skies and smooth seas in 2003!!

We have cruised twice, once in mid Nov. and once during the first week of Dec. and were able to dock both times. The weather was beautiful and the seas balmy both times. Keeping my fingers crossed for you......

Sailed May 2001 and was able to dock. Seas like glass the entire time.

Sailed December 2002 and was able to dock. Windy, but sunny that day and the water was COLD!

Sailing November 2003....we'll see as we have two chances to make it in!:)

Ann: Glad to hear dinner went well and that you sound more upbeat now! Been worried about ya!

Cruised in:
Jan 99 docked
Sept 01 docked
Sept 02 docked 2X (diverted from Western cruise to a modified Eastern and went to CC twice)
Oct 03 docked

I think 50% is not even close!

Between the 2 ships DCL goes to CC 156 times a year. If they do not dock 15 times that would be LESS then 10%.
Just from reading the boards I would guess the real number is somewhere between 7-15 times or 5-10%.(Meaning they DO dock 90-95% of the time)
Someone did a poll last year and tried to find out exactly what the rate of failure to dock was. I'm not sure what the result was, but I DO know it was not 50%

October '99- docked ( first cruise in after hurricane damage)

October '01- docked twice (mystery cruise)

October '04 hope to dock again
