Inspired by Blisters Thread - Chafing?

What do you do to prevent chafing?

I mentioned it in the blister thread: Blistershield, Bodyglide or Avon's anti-blister balm. They work like a charm!

Another good tip would be to wear biker short-type of underwear under your shorts.

About 5 years ago we went to Disney in August and me and Dgrandfather (my dad) experienced that problem. Needless to say we were walking rather strangely at the end of the long day until thankful relief from VASELINE PETROLEUM JELLY!!! Now we always ask each other did you pack the vaseline before any trip. :rotfl2:
Another way to prevent it is to not go to Disney in the heat of summer (October, November and December are wonderful!!!!) :goodvibes

DH has been using Arrid Extra Dry cream anti-perspirant - Walmart $2.15 per tin. 4 trips and going strong!

Biker shorts under a skirt or dress. For men - deodorant. Keep dry! :)

I've used compression shorts (Underarmor) and have had no problems with chafing

I swear by the biker shorts type underwear and baby powder w/corn starch. I don't know about everyone else, but this has always worked for me.

Biker shorts always do the trick for me. Never leave home without them! Bring a few pairs if you can, not just one, that way you're not washing them in the sink at the hotel every night!

Body glide!!!! but it is a tiny bit greasy but wont stain. I also bought the monistat chaffing one and hope it works and is drier.

Anybody ever hear the Bobby Collins comedy bit about chafing??? That is funny stuff right there!!!!!!!!! I would avoid his 'Powder into Pancakes' route!

Not so much how to avoid, but if in the sad event that you find yourself in this situation, may I reccomment Creamy Desitin available in your local baby care aisle? Discovered this once after we had DS and had some in the diaper bag for him....no kids in diapers anymore and we still pack it! :rotfl:

I am going with the Bodyglide folks. I am a runner and I swear by it.

I use the bike shorts and go in the winter so I don't usually have too much chaffing. But if I do chaff I use baby diaper cream. I put it on at night and by the morning the chaffing is usually healed pretty well.

Definitely get the Body Glide. Go to your local running store and get some.
Use it to prevent chafing and blisters. It isn't too greasy or anything. You will love it!

I saw in the paper yesterday that Monistat has a new Chafing Relief Powder Gel - that might be worth a try

This product is fabulous! ::yes:: I have been using it for the last month and it works great. I use it on the inner thigh area, underarms and under the bottom of my bra...this skin of my underarms is actually feminine again! :bounce: Okay, I am sure that was too much information, but it really works and a little goes along way. I'm still on the first tube and will probably make it through the first week or two of August.

I think you can get a free sample at the website...if not I buy it at Walmart and it costs about $6 - $7.
