How about, it makes you like most moms I know?

Yeah, that sounds about right.

I just am having a problem with a co-worker of mine. Well, my whole office is having a problem with her. Its a hygiene issue. For some reason she has stopped washing her hair. Im not even compeltely sure if she is showering at all. She has worked for the company forever and I have been there just about two years. I dont know her that well though. There have quite a few times over the years that she will skip washing her hair for many days. But this last time has been the worst. Its been a month at least.

I have tried dropping hints about shampoos, told her how great her hair looks when she has it done, made comments about how often "I" wash my hair and so forth. Others have gone to the manager and the director to complain since its starting to stink. But they are trying to find a way to approach it because in their words "its a sensitive issue".

Since I dont know her whole background I dont know how sensitive it is. They have said they will call HR and associate health and find out what they can do about it. I know they are stalling hoping that each day she would just finally come in with clean hair. But its driving me crazy!

How can someone not wash their hair for that long? Does she not realize its nasty? And she is constantly scratching her head! ICK! One girl who's desk is nearest to her, brought an air freshener and a fan to help with the stink even. I dont know what else we can do without saying anything to her.

Im coming close to just confronting her and saying something. But Im not sure that will do any good. She gets very defensive if you say anything to her about anything. I once told her something about putting some chart back when she was done. She flew off the handle and made a big deal about it. So thats one reason why I haven't said anything to her yet.

Im just afraid that people who come into the department will see how she is and that it will reflect badly on the rest of us. I should also mention that I work in a hospital but in a non patient care department. But this girl does go to the floors and the other units as a part of her job.

Its just gross. Anyone have any suggestions?????

Ok, ew.

Umm, I don't know. HR really needs to take care of that.

If they don't, maybe you can try talking to her, and say something like, "I don't want to hurt your feelings, but people have been talking.... We've noticed you haven't been taking good care of yourself lately and we're concerned. Is anything going on? Anything we can help with?"

WHY AREN'T YOU WASHING YOUR HAIR?

I dont even know how to approach it. I dont know any adult who doesn't regularly bath and wash their hair. I know little old ladies who get their hair "set" once a week. But we know its washed at least that one day. And I so dont want to hurt her feelings. But I think no matter how I go about it they will. And shes not a young girl either. She has a dughter in her mid twenties. I even looked up to see when her birthday was so if it was close by I could get her a gift cert to a salon or get her some bath and body stuff. Its in Jan though.

I would be totally humiliated if someone had to talk to me about this so I just want to be careful how I go about it.

Maybe she's depressed or has some other kind of mental thing going on- or has developed a scalp allergy? I don't know. I'm really reaching.

I HAVE to wash my hair every day if I am going to leave the house!!!

You don't suppose she was attacked, and maybe this is her way of becoming unattractive? I've heard of women reacting that way.

I mean, it COULD be nothing, but it really could be something.

If you think HR isn't going to do anything, I would ask her to talk privately, and then say what I said earlier- that you've noticed she isn't taking care of herself and are concerned. But beware what could come out!

Do you live by Joey and Chandler?

I'm trying to sell Mark on the idea of a Pygmy goat- and he's NOT having it...

no i live next to people who have asked me if i had any weed a couple of times and have three bigs dogs that bark all night and day. and this is kind of late a gated community type neighborhood. i think a duck is definatley going to be against hoa regulations...

Why have a duck for a pet?

Or rabbits... I never got that one either. Apparently, neither do the millions of people who let them go into the wild after realizing they make sucky pets/Easter presents...

I have to add lizzards, geckos, snakes, and frogs to that. Also, any type of bug that is kept as a pet. I just dont get it.

:rotfl2: Normal or Briarmom Yep, it's all relative! Well, I did get off my lazy tush and made pasta, mainly because my DH wanted it and didn't want to scrounge. I knew if we had to scrounge that I was going to have to make it up to him, if you get my drift. :lmao: Figured it would be easier just to make the damned pasta! :rotfl:

After dinner we went for a walk and then I showed him that I can bounce on my new pogo stick. He's pretty sure that I've lost my marbles! :)

Agreed. I guess I'm just too much of a dog person to see the point of those other "pets". :rotfl2:

Dont the "twins" get sore when you bounce like that????

Well if you live on a Farm- ducks, chickens, cows, goats, llamas, whatever. You can have all of that. But this is not that type of neighborhood.

What I really dont get is when I see someone walking their lizzard or something else. I get walking a dog. I can even see walking a cat (dont totally understand it, but i can get it). But other animals? :confused3

This hair thing is very gross. I wash my hair (and the rest of me) every day. On a rare occasion I will announce that I'm not showering or leaving the house...but I always do.

I'm thinking you could grab some of those hair-washing bath bags from one of the hospital floors. (They're like shower caps with soap inside to wash the patients' hair...they don't really work, although most patients enjoy the scalp massage, but that's another story...). Put some of those bags on her desk. It is kind of rude, but so is coming in and stinking up the place.

I made soup and sandwiches for dinner.:) I have also answered Civil War questions and taught Algebra and done laundry. That makes me Productive Girl tonight, I guess.
