What is the strangest thing you have ever used as wrapping paper or recieved as wrapping paper...

her tin foil wrapped "contraceptive"( yes me too) inspired me to ask.. also reminded me of a "tradition" my friends and i had in collewge, and afterwards, regarding wedding g ifts as we married .

i started it as a joke, when one of my best friends from high school got married shortly after we started college. i sent a gag gift to him, wrapped in the uh um uh.... centerfolds... taken from various playboy and penthouse magazines. he loved it, and that gag gift would be re wraped in the latest issues and regifted for the next 20 or so weding sin our group. strangely, the best friend was my best man, 12 years after high school, and he did not manage to send me the gift, wrapped in centerfold.

soo what was your strangest??

One of my ex-boyfriends family wrapped presents only in the Sunday Comics. back then, I thought it was just cheap, but now I can see how it would be a cool family tradition.

Sunday comics - not that strange really - I've wrapped gifts in them when I'm in a hurry and have no wrapping paper. :)

Got in a fight with a friend right before Christmas so he wrapped my present in duct tape.

Brown Paper bag...now they are actually selling this as gift wrap.

I've done this for a young child's gift using several lengths of the very thick yarn, in bright primary colors, as ribbon :goodvibes

when DS was around 7 or 8 he thought a 'slightly' worn sock was the way to go! :rotfl2:

We love giving presents in bizarre containers--I once gave my DSis her present in a feminine products box, wrapped only in the thinnest layers of white see through, tissue paper :teeth: Yep, right under the tree, where she put it front & center. She, in turn, has put a gift of lovely silver napkin ring holders in a carton that once held enema syringes wrapped with pages from the AARP magazine! :lmao:
Yep, we're a silly bunch :thumbsup2

hmmsurely there are more interestin wrapping stories than these, we are an interesting group...

My Nan, who is sadly gone now, always wrapped her presents with whatever paper she had. Paper towels, napkins, bookcovers, whatever was laying around. The paper never covered the box. If she didn't have a box she just threw some paper over part of it. Last but not least, she used duct tape or black electrical tape. Electrical tape was her favorite cause she got it for free. :cool1:
