I don't watch any of them anymore as I get too freaked out, but the ones I have seen are...

The Exorcist

Halloween - the original film.

Amityville Horror: The first one and I think it was no.3 when the DS shoots everyone in the house.

Salem's Lot - there were two scenes: one where they decide to open the coffin at a burial and the deceased opens his eyes and the other where a boy/vampire  appears at a window.

Carrie - only really jumped at the hand coming out of the grave which was totally unexpected!

So how about you?

I don't generally care for scary movies, but a good non-monstery thriller, IMO is "The Panic Room" with Jodie Foster.

I hate scary movies...but when I was younger I went to see Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The second one, not the original.
Well, when they started smashing heads, I started screaming.
My friend that went with me was soooo embarrassed.

She kept telling me they were going to throw us out of the theater.

Nasty movie....hate exorcist, too. As well as any Halloween or Amityville horror kind of movie.

I agree with your picks. :)

The Exorcist. It was the scariest movie at the time and really gave me the creeps.

Halloween. It was the first "slasher" movie I ever saw and scared the beejeebers out of me.

Friday, the 13th. I looked under my bed for years after seeing that one.

Salem's Lot. The boy at the window got me, too.

Jeepers Creepers. It had a lot of surprises that made me jump.

I love horror movies!!!! :teeth:

I agree Wishy, The Panic Room was a great suspense movie.

The movies that scared me the most were Signs (ask jaypd, he has the nail scars on his arms to prove it) and another whose name escapes me. I think I was so traumatized I blocked the name out of my mind! ;)

I know! Dead Calm!! First movie I saw with Nicole Kidman, now THAT was suspenseful!

The Shining

Silence of the Lambs

Psycho

And this one may seem lame, but it changed my way of thinking for life: Jaws. I don't swim in the ocean anymore without thoughts of, "What if????"

Footlose :teeth:

Ooooooooh! CC! Is Dead Calm the move where a husband and wife are on a boat in the ocean with a lunatic? If so, that is one scary movie!

I would like to see both Panic Room and Signs. :)

That's the one Maggie. I think the first time I saw it, it was half over and I couldn't believe how scary it was, so next time I saw it was on, caught the whole thing and was still just as scared! :)

The Ring. It was just creepy enough to freak me out. I still don't like little girls with long hair.

The scariest movie I've ever seen was Signs. That movie freaked me out! I don't think I took a breath the entire last quarter of the movie.

<font color=navy>In my younger years....

The Exorcist, Jaws, and Halloween - totally freaked me out. I had read the book the Exorcist (I think I was 12 at the time), and after the movie I threw the book away -- couldn't bear it in the house.

Lately .... Devil's Advocate gave me a terror nightmare (I can't handle movies with the devil), and the kids & I saw Jeepers Creepers at the theater. I ended up putting my knees up and put my purse on my knees so I couldn't see the screen. That really scared me - the four kids (ages 12/13) were scared & one of them had goosebumps (I think it was Kelly), and they loved it!

There was a movie that came out about 20 years ago called The Burning that I thought was pretty scary. I haven't seen it in any rental places though. Also, the music/score from The Omen still creeps me out to this day.

OH! I can't remember the name but it had a shiny chrome ball that had 2 prongs sticking out of it and it would chase the people and get them right in their forehead....

I think it started with an "F" or maybe a "P" with the F sound? Anyone remember this one - it's definitely a one word title.

Now it's gonna bug me until I remember:rolleyes:

I agree with most of the posts and want to add:

Blair Witch Project - we are avid tent campers so this gave us something to think about!

I Saw What You Did - this is about 2 teenage babysitters who are making prank phone calls and dial up a murderer who eventually tracks them down.

Duel - Stephen Speilberg's first film (I think he was about 20 when he made it). It starred Dennis Weaver as a mild-mannered salesman who is pursued by a faceless psycho truck-driver.

Race with the Devil - vacationers in a camper are pursued cross country by satan worshippers.

I don't like scary movies because they bother me too much. I guess the scariest one though would have to be The Exorcist!

Definitely the Exorcist...and I love horror movies :)

but....scared the bejebbies out of me when I do see them....I watch Jaws over and over again and still jump when the diver is under the water and looks into the boat and sees the dead person and those eyes.....blahhhhhhh.....then Pyscho......that will always scare me whenever I see it......I went to the movies by myself cause no one would go with me to see the Birds when it came out the first time....that still gives me the shivers......I slept with the lights on for a month at least when I saw Halloween the first time.....I watch these stupid movies and still get scared.......oh yah Carrie......the hand coming out of the ground still is traumatising......

Lorix2,
The movie you're trying to remember is Phantasm. :D
