Inspired by all the film threads: What have been the scariest films you have seen?

JOC! YES! That's it! Thanks! That one made me sleep with the lights on for like a year  I kept thinking it sounded something between Fantasia and Fantasmic :p

Scary movie:

The Exorcist
Halloween

Scary/Lame Movie:
Killer Clows from Outerspace

 Clowns scare me!!!!

:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: :jester:

Might sound kinda silly but, the first one that really scared me was "The Birds" the first one. I still kinda freak if I see a whole
mess of birds flying around.

Carrie was another one. I still laugh remembering the GUY I was with screaming when the hand came out.

OH, OH, OH and OH I can't remember the name. I read the book which tee-totally scared the stuffing out of me: HELTER SKELTER. That's it, i think they made a movie of it but, those eyes
I'll probably have nightmares remembering it.

So do I! ;)

JOC, I can totally relate to getting the chills to certain film music, I can't stand hearing The Omen or Tubular Bells (Exorcist) now!

The Stand---I still can't get through the whole movie. It's not scary as to me it's more freaky!

The Exorcist---To this day at 33 years old, I still won't ever watch that movie again!

Final Destination---This one more freaked me out, than scared me. Death tracking you and finishing the job.....WHOA!!

Pet Semetary---Just one word.....EEK!!

There are a few others, but these are the ones where I just won't ever do again!

I just saw the Ring and it was creepy.

I heard about Final Destination from a friend this weekend. It's on my list to rent for my next rainy day!

Helter Skelter - that's the Charles Manson murder story, correct? It's a true story - does that freak you out even more?

The Birds freaked me out when I was little. I also remember the original Twilight Zone episode with the creature on the wing of the airplane and the passenger watching him tearing the plane apart and none of the flight crew believed him. That gave me nightmares for awhile.

I don't think anyone mentioned Sixth Sense?

ROSEMARY'S BABY was spooky too!

The only movie that has ever really scared me was The Island of Misfit Toys. Claymation usually doesn't bother me, but if I watch that movie even now, I'll have nightmares from it.

I agree that The Ring was very scary. We've seen it twice and it freaked me out even more the second time! The tape is soooo bazaar and each time I see it I understand it more.

I've only seen one movie that has truly scared me so bad that I can't watch it to this day and that is Steven King's "IT". I can still see that stupid clown in my head and it still scares the heck out of me.

Michelle, I was just going to add that one! I HATE those big open drains in Florida that are so big and dark, I walk wayyyyy around them. Jim laughs at me and I just tell him Pennywise is in there. :)

The first Halloween scared the bejeebers out of me too!

I can remember when I started reading Stephen King novels, the first was Salem's Lot and to this day his books scare me to death, but I love them. How does that work??? :)

I guess we just like being scared Cathy, even if it does mean the light stays on all night!;)

I can't believe how scared I was by "Carnival of Souls." Brr..it still creeps me out.

I must be very thick skinned. I love almost every movie mentioned and none of them scared me. Exorcist storyline does freak me out and I NEVER would have played that part. The only movie that kind of scared me was Candyman. There was something spooky about his voice and look that got to me. (not to mention afterward my boyfriend locked us in the bathroom and blocked the door and said CANDYMAN 3 times!!!) I can watch it now with no problem though. As for Jeepers Creepers, it started out GREAT, I really thought this one might actually scare me, then it just turned ridiculous. I think it would have been better if they'd never shown the creature at all. It was much more mysterious then. Blair Witch....another one that had great potential, but they just didn't do it for me. OOOH, the ONLY movie to ever make me yelp.....The new Haunting. I don't know why, but I was watching it by myself and it was just eerie. I could go on for days, but I'll spare you all. :p

I love scary movies and agree with most of these so far.

The Excorcist
Halloween, #1 only
Friday the 13th, #1 only
Scream (also very funny)
Dead Calm is terrifying
When a Stranger Calls, when they tell Carol Kane the call is coming from inside the house, I almost died. I could never babysit again after that one.
The Shining was pretty creepy too.

I'm sure I'll think of more soon!!!

and the Hitcher I dont know why that last one was more gross but ewwwwwwwww.
