Hi, everyone! First time posting here! :goodvibes

I'm making a scrapbook for a friend of mine who just had a baby. I've never done this before, so I was hoping that you all could give me some inspiration and ideas. I would love to see some pictures of pages you've made!

If you have access, try to get baby hospital bracelet and first photo. If the parents are willing, you could do hand and footprints on card stock. I put the final bill for the hospital in my DS. Depending on the time span you want to capture, you can get photos of baby's first home and baby shower. If you are wanting to do a first year book, you could make like "kits to add photos later" of baptism, photo grouping for 2mo, 6mo, 9mo, and first birthday party, first hair cut page, milestone of sitting up, crawling, standing, walking, first holidays (Easter, Halloween, Christmas etc...).

I am doing the same thing for my niece-in-law. They had their first baby in October, and I volunteered to make the scrapbook. This will be my first official book.

I am going in chronological order, more or less. I finally realized that it isn't my mission to include every single picture -- that's what photo albums are for! I am making general pages for "one month", "Halloween", "two months", etc. I am scrapping the photos I love -- it gives me that much more inspiration. And they had a little girl, so it's fun to do sweet pink and lavendar pages.

Erin just sent me a picture of Abby at WDW, sleeping in her carriage, thumb in mouth and Minnie Mouse hat perched on her head! So, so, so cute!! :love: I think I am titling it "Sleeping Beauty."

We've done some baby books for some of the girls here on the the DIS

some popular titles were:
It's a ______!!!
Stats
Mommy time
daddy time
Grandparents
first tooth
first steps
first holidays
tub time
walk in the park
coming home
first professional photo

uh I can't remember anymore now, it will come to me.

We did 8x8 albums, about 2-3 photos per 2 page layout. We usually did 2 photos for 4x6 because it was easy for the parents to drop the photos in without having to measure and crop.

I've started them (for the mom to complete as the baby grew) as shower presents, and you can do:

a decorated page with a spot for the hospital pic and info
a "What the world was like when I was born" page (or 2-page spread)
a page from each older-sibling-to-be, with their picture and a quote
pages set up for the shower pics
some paper, stickers, etc. to begin with for later pages

I got this idea from a book. I have a black and white stripe page with the title "Life on the Inside". It has ultrasound photos and talks about my DS's 9 months of incarceration. It uses the birthdate as a prison number.

"Baby Parts" with close-ups of the foot, arm, and neck (DD had a big fat fold there).

A set-up like this:
[mom's baby photo] + [dad's baby photo] = [new baby photo]

Nursery page. I had "A Honey of a Nursery" (it was Pooh themed).

Birth announcement page with birth stats.

This is the book I did for my great niece. It's not a "newborn" book, more of a first year, but should give you some ideas.

Have fun!

I love that book. I have to make 2 books for friends that had babies this month. one boy and one girl

* Doctor appointment cards
* Baby shower invitations
* Photos of the new nursery
* Your thoughts about your upcoming baby
* How you picked the baby's name
* The meaning of the baby's name
* Quotes about babies
These all help:cheer2:
