My house is a disaster!
Living room: we have an enormous sofa that takes up 3/4 of the room and most of the sofa is piled with blankets and several of my school books and binders. The cocktail table is piled with more books and papers. More books sit on the floor between my chair and the table. The dog drags toys throughout the living room. Also kids books and toys.
Computer room: Books, books, books. A few toys, shoes & socks, coats, computer parts, office supplies. All over the place.
Kitchen: Not too terrible at the moment -- some dirty dishes in the sink, some dirty clothes in front of the washer/dryer.
Bedrooms: MESS! books, clothes, toys, papers, books, books, books! Books in the hallway, books everywhere.
It's all a little dusty, but I'll get it taken care of over Christmas break when I get some motivation. I might try to do something about the books too.

I would love to hear any ideas that you have to get my family to pick up after themselves!
