Hi everyone,

This is my first dining review but not from my first trip to Disney. DH and I just returned 3 days ago from our first anniversary trip. I have been wanting to do a dining review for awhile now so tried my hardest to take pictures of all our food. Sadly, I missed a couple of items as we ran into some sickness and tiredness and it just didn't happen. I do have lots of pics though to share.

To preface this review,

1) We were not on the dining plan. Too much food for us and not dessert people as our choices will show.

2) I have a narrowed esophagus which keeps me from eating large portions. You will see many appetizers and sides which served as my meals.

3) DH does not do fancy. He likes burgers, pizza, hotdogs and fries and you will see this in abundance. He did let me know which were best and worst.

Where we ate:

ASSports food court supper
Liberty Tree Tavern lunch
Capt. Cook's supper
Main Street Bakery Snack
Les Chefs de France lunch
ESPN Club supper
Pizzafari lunch
Paradiso 37 supper
Kona breakfast
Tony's lunch
T-Rex lunch
room service pizza

Sci-fi lunch
Picabu supper
Yorkshire county lunch
Garden View tea room

I am hoping to have this up quickly as I am a teacher and my free time is quickly winding down so the goal is to have this fully completed in a week.

Now to get those photos uploaded...

This is me (Lesley, 29 Disney planning addict) and DH (Doug, 36 loves Disney but not planning; however is very content to follow my plans and share his "expertise" with his friends about Disney)

This was an evening of torrential downpour so we're a little wet but there was no line to meet the big Cheese!

This sounds like a fun set of reviews! Sorry you were dealing with sickness during your trip though. I'm looking forward to your reviews!

looking forward to your reviews. my ds 13 is very picky but loves burgers and fries (and chicen nuggets) so he is looking to see what is the best burger. He thinks espn has the best fries and hasn't changed his mind about that after several trips !

So on Day 1 we arrived and the original plan was to go to one of the Epcot resort places to eat...all good plans go awry at times. We landed in thunderstorms and waited over an hour for our luggage leaving us to have to grab to McDonald's cheeseburgers while waiting at baggage claim. I have no pictures of these as we were up since 4:30AM our time (3:00 AM EST) and did not have our wits about us.

After arriving safely at ASSp we settled into our room for a short nap...2 hours later we woke up and were hungry. (I should also mention I'm hypoglycemic so being hungry = eat now not in an hour from now) Rather than wait for a bus to go and transfer to the Epcot areas we decided to eat at the food court.

I had the kid's cheese pizza meal with a chocolate chip cookie that DH ate and the jello. I actually really enjoyed this meal and found it to be a good portion for me. The jello was really tasty and easy to swallow.

DH had the hotdog meal and said it was ok. Apparently I do better hotdogs on the BBQ my mom's fries are better but it filled a hole.

We then went to Fantasia Fairways and played the mini-golf with Illuminations and Fantasmic both going off in the distance.

Our first full day we arrived at the Magic Kingdom just after rope drop...DH was spoken to and we made amends most other days to get to rope drop and he agreed it was the way to go.
After touring through Frontierland and part of Adventureland we made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.

It was 11:30 so we witnessed the family opening the restaurant. We also witnessed a lot of people looking for a walk-up. I do believe most were seated with not much wait. We were promptly called to our table and were sat in the George and Martha Washington room.

Our server was FANTASTIC! She constantly kept our drinks refilled and brought me more ice for my ice tea without me having to ask. When DH asked about purchasing the mug, she quickly brought out a non-used one wrapped.

DH had the cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and no bacon. He loves that in the US mayo is a given on burgers as here in NL he has to ask for it. DH loves his condiments! He also billed his tavern fries as the best fries for the trip. Every other location we went to there was no comparison. He always came back to LTT fries. I don't know if perhaps we missed a good fry place but I tasted a couple and I agreed they were hot, fresh and delicious with potato flavour.

I went with the Declaration salad which is the starter salad. I found it to be a perfect portion for me. I subbed the dressing for the honey shallot one that comes with the Colony salad and asked the server if I could add some of the smoked cheddar. She said it was no problem and there was no extra charge.

This cheese is AMAZING! It had a wonderful smoky flavour to it which is how i love my cheese and there was some small bits of bacon added to it. It was a lovely compliment to my salad which was very fresh and tasty in the heat. It was a wonderful choice for my meal as when we left I felt ready to continue and not dragged out.

I told our server how wonderful she was and as we had only ordered a small lunch we left her with a LARGE tip for her attention as sometimes I find if I don't order a full meal, servers tend to ignore you.

We continued through Liberty Square and then went back to the resort for a rest so we could tackle the evening.

Next: Capt. Cook's supper

Sounds great already! Cant wait to hear more! You know as someone who lost alot of weight.. I learned portion control makes all the difference, while I know you do it for different reasons I have always thought we eat way to big a portions, we shold eat just until we are full, not until we have to roll ourselves away from the table.. Its just hard to push that plate away sometimes.. I learned asking waitress to just take it away helps..LOL

:rotfl: I love your Dining Review title ...... it looks so familiar ..... :lmao:

OMGosh! I didn't even realize that! I was just trying to come up with a title and I am not nearly as hilarious as some of the people on here so figured leave it blank until inspiration comes through.

Nephew's birthday is today so hoping to get 2 more done tonight.

I'm joining! I like the fact that you are not on DDP. We are doing that our next trip so it will be very helpful. Also, as I don't eat alot and it's nice to see how your order.

Great minds think alike :)

So after a lovely afternoon of rest back at the room we returned to the MK, but took a detour on the monorail to Capt. Cook's for supper.

Some people may think I'm weird for making a special trip to a resort CS but I love the different options at Capt. Cook's and make it a tradition to go there once every trip. If Pepper Market were on a monorail line or walking distance to a part I would put it in the same category. Unfortunately, CSR is close to nothing.

Anyhow...after a prompt monorail to the Poly after listening to others discuss their ADR for Chef Mickey's and Ohana and wondering aloud if they had made good choice we made it to the Poly and went downstairs to Capt. Cook's.

DH quickly ordered a pepperoni flatbread as he had this last time and thought it was a very good. He liked how it had a nicer crust than regular Disney pizza and had no herbs in the crust. A simple pepperoni pizza in his world and it was delicious. So delicious, I almost didn't get a picture.

(He already had the first piece devoured)

I had been debating between 2 items for about 6 months. The Chicken Lo Mein which I've had twice before and knew it was good or the grown-up grilled cheese which I had heard wonderful things about from this board.
I debated...and knowing I wanted the polynesian chips went with the grown-up grilled cheese as they were included and I would have had to order them as a side with the lo mein. My small portions made the decision for me as I HATE to waste food.

Well...

It was AMAZING! The mixture of cheeses went really well together. I loved the tomato and lettuce as a nice fresh balance from the hot cheese. And the nutty flavour grain bread!!! Sadly, due to my swallowing issues I had to cut off the crust as it was too hard to get down (not an issue with the bread, I can't get down a lot of things so no surprise). The rest of the bread though was perfectly toasted for me and I happily ate in small bites interspersed with the seasoned Polynesian chips. DH tried one and said, "ummm....nooo" Well he's a fry guy and doesn't know a good thing when it smacks him in the face.

This was a large portion for me. I ate the 2 pieces of sandwich with no crust and 1/2 the chips. They came in a nice box that has a plastic seal inside so I packed them in our bag and finished them back at the hotel that night for a snack.

The skies then opened and it poured. We debated on what to do since we asked and people said this wasn't passing quickly. As we had left weather here that was 4 degrees Celsius and sideways rain we trooped back to MK, bought a poncho for me and the backback, DH used the umbrella, and we romped through Tomorrowland. The place had emptied as the parade was cancelled but we had the closest view I've ever had for Wishes (on the walkway to Tomorrowland) and got there at 9:45 (in time for the Magic, the Memories and you show)

Oh yes we also met the mouse!

As we were leaving the park after Wishes and the crazy rain, DH asked me a question. "Where do I get my ice cream cookie sandwich here?"

I had shown him a picture of it months ago and received one word in response, "YES!"

So off we trooped to Main Street Bakery. It was almost empty. No trouble to get a table and DH had his sandwich. Happy boy was he. I tried to ask how it was and only got, "mmmm" "oh boy" and closed eyes in delight as answers so I'm assuming it was good. I bought a bag of BBQ chips just to have the bag for a souvenir. (I brought them home and am actually eating them now)
