Our last day... no parade, and a Haunted Room - Part 1
If you ever had bronchitis you know what nights are like. You start by being able to sleep for a couple hours at a time before you choke, then an hour and a half, then an hour....
By our last night at BWI, I was doing series of 40mns comas.
DM got so used to it, my choking didn't even wake her up anymore.
When I got sick of it I'd give up on sleeping altogether and instead spend some time on the balcony, or a couple hours in a scalding hot bath.
Our last morning, I volunteered to stay in the room & pack so that Grumpy could enjoy the pool one last time. Boy did she love that pool.
Once I finished packin I spent about an hour putting some makeup on trying to make myself look human.
It didn't work.
Grumpy came back from the pool and got the Express Checkout envelope on our door. She didn't open it right away instead she changed while I called Bell Services. Sometimes it takes a while for them to show up... well this guy was there in less than 5mns so neither Grumpy or I had the time to review our bill. A few days after we got home we realized we'd been charged for Concierge!!
(Got that fixed in one phone call, but it definitely gave us a scare).
We had to take a cab to CM. Waited 40mns for a bus and got sick of it.
Chef Mickey's was awesome as usual ! I'd been slightly worried since our ADR was so late but everything went great.
The hostess walked us to our table, in a small room above the main room where he buffet is. Our server took one look at me and went
"Oooh honey, how about some hot tea?"
So much for my makeup skills.
DM went to get her food and then I asked her to get mine as well. Also I decided not to touch or hug the characters this time. That thing is mighty contagious (DM luckily has the constitution of a horse), don't wanna get Mickey or Pluto sick !! Do you have any idea how much a good vet costs these days??
Yes I like taking pictures of chairs. Sue me.
Minnie came first
Then Donald
Our buddy Pluto
Grumpy's boyfriend Goofy
And finally the Big Cheese himself
We ate & drank & twirled our napkins and had a great time! I was expecting them to kick us out since we were the only ones left in that little room, but when we walked out we saw many other tables were still full and they were replenishing the buffet again. Silly me, we should have stayed longer.
Grumpy & I took the monorail to MK. It was the first time we'd entered MK that late and MAN did we notice the difference !!! Wait times averaged 35mns. Everywhere.
So we went back to the Carousel of Progress. It had a line too, but only about 5mns. I really enjoyed this show. No it's not cutting edge technology, there's no 3D,and it doesn't throw you upside down but it's a great attraction anyway!
After COP I wanted to check out Toontown, we'd never gone in that area of MK yet.
This was BAD. Packed, with todders running everywhere.
All I wanted to do was Minnie & Mickey's house. We tried but got stuck in the first room of Minnie's house for over 5mns, that was enough for us and we left.
Couldn't see anything the place was so packed.
I forced Grumpy to let me take her pic outside of Minnie's house. Does she look thrilled or what ? This is Grumpy at her best.
Off to the train station we go. Get me out of here!!!! Pleaaaaaaaaaase.
We took the train all the way back to Main Street then to Frontierland.
What we wanted to do now was find a spot to watch the parade.
We did, in front of Liberty Tree Tavern. A great spot with benches and a roof.
Definitely a good thing, the roof.
About 2mns after we sat - BANG. Thunder. BAD Thunder. It was really, really close and loud. Lightning, thunder, thunder, lightning and then finally the skies opened.
I was surprised that it had only rained once during our trip (the last night at the Poly). Usually it rains every day in July. It didn't rain once during the week we were at Fort Lauderdale either.
Well, somebody upstairs must have decided to catch up because it was raining like I've only seen once before - during tropical storm Alberto the previous June in Madeira Beach.
Sca-ry. We got our ponchos out and waited for it to calm down.
After a while an announcement was made that the parade would start late because of the weather. We waited some more. They announced the same thing again. It was almost 4 and I thought well, they're not gonna have it now. Let's just go. We'll come back tonight for Spectro & Wishes.
We made our way back to the entrance, taking shelter wherever we could, and it took a while.
The POP bus stop is the farthest one from the entrance. We got there & it was still raining, we had to wait about 10mns for a bus then the second the bus showed up, the raining stopped.
I don't know if there ever was a parade at MK that day, but we didn't see it
Pop Century, here we come!
The bus ride took about 25mns.Not too bad.
Check in was very fast. I'd put in a request for the 50's building, and the girl at the front desk tried her best but couldn't get us a room in that section. Nevermind, we're only here for one night anyway.
We were in the 80s section, at first I was bugged because it looks far on the map, but it's actually about a 3mn walk from the main hall.
On our way to the room I checked out the decor and the icons, they're really cute !!! If I hadn't been sick & already soaked I would have gone and played in the Goofy water jets.
Our room.. definitely smaller and not as fancy as BWI's, but I liked it!

First thing I did was get out of my soaked pants. Didn't occur to me that I didn't have any other ones to wear and that in order to go get our luggage I'd have to cover my giant butt with
something.
Having to put wet pants back on is really not a great experience.
We walked back to the main hall and to luggage services. Since we were leaving the next day we didn't want all our luggage, just my carry-on (with the laptop in it) and one bag where we'd put clothes for the trip back home.
They were fine with us doing that which was great.
I think the guy at luggage services thought we were insane. He asked how many pieces of luggage we wanted and we said 2 please. He then asked if we were sure we'd have everything for "our family" because they closed at 10pm and then we wouldn't be able to get our stuff until the next morning.
Hmm.. there's only the 2 of us. What makes you think there's more?
Oh right. The 4 huge duffles. And 2 carry ons.
Well, we're women. We need shoes. We don't wear them, but we sure pack em.
Got our stuff & walked back to the room. The sun was back up, Grumpy had her bathing suit and so she went to the quiet "computer" pool that was just behind our building. She liked that pool too but not as much as BWI's.
I was dying to go but that was really, really not a good idea. Instead I took a hot shower& went to bed with an extra blanket. It's 90° in Florida and I was shivering under 2 blankets. Even considered putting the comforter on top of it but these things are just too gross.
Grumpy came back from the pool about an hour later, it was 6pm and if we wanted to see Wishes tonight it was time to get moving.
Well a sentence came out of me that I never thought I'd say
I don't want to go back to Magic Kingdom.
