Insert Catchy Title Here: An August TR 13 Years in the Making **Finished! 12/31

I die that you just said "scurred". We say "scraiten", as in "You needs to scraiten your bed sheets, cuz they's wrinkled!" Or, since we live on the Grand Strand, we've changed it to "Grand Scrand" - and yes, there are ppl here who really talk that way for reals. I love it.

I believe you! Some of things I hear come out of southerners mouths get me all :rotfl:

Beka, I nearly pee'd my pants reading your last update. In fact, I had to read part of it out loud to Joe. :rotfl2:

Well, my kid has, uh “misplaced” my notebook telling me what we did on the trip, so I’ll have to guess from pics for this installment.

So we headed to Morocco for lunch.
Our target:
81409060.jpg

I remember us rushing past Canada, France, & England in our quest for nourishment.
81409061.jpg

We did pause briefly for a PhotoPass pic in France:
France.jpg

Kyle was on a mission! No time to stop and gawk at the attractions, let’s eat!

Kyle had the lamb & chicken schwarma platter:
81409063.jpg

(he said it was good, but the chicken was a little dry)

Despite my usual dislike of lamb, I had the lamb wrap (I still crave the sauce):
81409064.jpg

Now that our bellies were full, it was time to explore! (Let me make a side note here – the weather was yucky. It was misting at this point, and was obviously hot, but not miserably so. I still felt like I was growing mold. Yuck.)

Morocco:

81409071.jpg

The museum is really beautiful (and air conditioned! And quiet! We were the only people in there!)
81409073.jpg

We stumbled on Aladdin & Jasmine:
81409070.jpg

Moving on… time to hit up Japan & listen to the drummers… in the rain.
81409076.jpg

81409075.jpg

Everyone has this pic, right?
81409079.jpg

DH loves him some sno-cones! I told him about the stand in Japan, & subsequently won the “Wife of the Year” award.
81409080.jpg

We browsed the store, but didn’t find anything we wanted. I grew up in a house decorated… no, OVER decorated with Asian anything (art, dolls, patterns on the fabric… I was beginning to wonder if we were really Asian but didn’t know it), so I’m over swords & kimonos & masks.

Moving on to the American pavilion. Oh! Side story! While in Morocco, I over heard a mother & son (probably 12yo or so) talking. She asked if he wanted to go to the America pavilion. He said “Mom, we LIVE in America, why would I want to go there?” Good point kid. Well, we wanted to hear the fife & drummers, since DH is into history. I just wanted to hear if the fife players were in tune.
81409081.jpg

Then it was time to head indoors. I was in need of a/c again.
81409084.jpg

81409085.jpg

The show was down, & we didn’t want to stick around for it to be fixed, so we moved on.

We stopped in Italy to watch the performers do their version of Romeo & Juliet. I remember them doing this the last time we were in WDW. Thirteen years ago. Time for a new skit? I was still entertained:
81409088.jpg

This pavilion doesn’t do much for me. I love Italian food, but gastric bypass pouches & pasta don’t mix well, I’m allergic to perfume, & the masks freak me out.

81409087.jpg

I see blue sky!!!

I looove me some German pavilion! Guten tag Deutschland!
81409089.jpg

I’ll come back to visit you later!

We had to stop over by the African outpost as the bridge was raised to let the barges through, when I saw this shirt:
81409092.jpg

Uh, wha?

Finally it went down & we headed to China. We didn’t stick around for the movie. The acrobats had moved indoors, but at this point I remember being tired & thought that as long as I kept moving, I’d be ok.
81409093.jpg

81409097.jpg

81409098.jpg

We ran through the gift shop. Kyle was looking for some unusual candy to try, but didn’t find anything here (or in Japan either) that sounded appealing.

81409104.jpg

Off we went to Norway! I was hoping that its Northern climate might rub off a bit on Florida, but no dice.
81409113.jpg

Yes, that is a 50 minute stand by. Needless to say, we grabbed a FP. This ride isn’t worth the FP wait, but it was a ride, which is better than standing on tired feet!

81409111.jpg

We wandered through the church/museum:
81409109.jpg

Kyle was pretty interested in the information in there. Like I said earlier, when I’m in a museum, I don’t read anything. Nada. I just look at stuff & keep moving. If I wanna learn about something, I’ll read Wikipedia (please tell me you know I’m kidding, a little.)

While waiting for our FP to come up, we headed over to Mexico. This has historically been my favorite pavilion. Now it reminds me of San Diego. Don’t get me wrong, I lurrrve SD!
RIIIIIDE!
81409122.jpg

81409117.jpg

81409118.jpg

81409120.jpg

Donald was ready for some pics, so we got in line.
Our version:
81409124.jpg

PP version:

We wandered around the marketplace for a bit. There were some pretty good books there. Kyle recognized some food guy who is suppose to be an expert on Mexican food & got all twitterpated about that book.

Finally it was time for our FPs for Maelstrom. Kyle wasn’t wildly impressed with the ride. I was mildly amused. Then we played around in the gift shop. I know people go nuts for the perfume in there. It’s good, but WOWZA, there’s a LOT of that stuff floating in the air, & I couldn’t stand to smell it for another second. It smelled good, but it was too strong for me to even tolerate it. Stupid perfume sensitivity.

81409129.jpg

Yeah, we tried on the kids versions before I realized there were adult ones. LOL

At this point, it was time for my birthday dinner! That’ll have to wait for the next installment!

Love your WS pictures. I don't get that guy's shirt either. :confused3

Awesome updates! Loved the photos. I didn't get enough time to fully exploer WS this past time around. It's one of the things I hope to do next tmie.

wow..do my eyes deceive me..an update?? you are alive! yay! great update! great pics! I love the one with you and the kiddie viking hat ;P

Looking forward to hearing about your bday dinner!

Hey all, sorry for the delay in more episodes. Kyle's uncle passed away the day before Thanksgiving, so while I was hoping to get an episode up this weekend, we had to make a run to KY for the funeral. I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving & didn't stuff yourselves too horribly!

So sorry to hear about your loss. Take your time. We'll be here.

This is sad. I barely remember what happened now. Thank goodness I took notes. Things have been super busy lately. Kyle’s uncle died right before Thanksgiving, so we had to make an impromptu trip to KY. Then we had to head back to SC so I could take 2 tests. While I was taking the tests, Kyle headed back to KY (we had left Conner with Kyle’s parents). After my tests, I flew up to KY (this was Dec. 8th at this point) & didn’t get back to SC until last Saturday. Now Christmas is upon us & we’re still busy. The Christmas season has flown by this year, which stinks. I like it to go sllloooooow. Anywho, back to the TR:

Our destination:

81409152.jpg

Time for dinner! Time to celebrate the 1st anniversary of my 29th birthday!
81409138.jpg

Woo-hoo!
81409141.jpg

Love me a wine flight! Surprisingly, this wasn’t enough wine to give me much of a buzz.

Inside the Biergarten:
81409142.jpg

(We were right beside this wheel.)

81409143.jpg

81409145.jpg

I don’t remember our server’s name, but she was super sweet. My family was totally oblivious when the band announced my birthday, so Kyle & I were the only two clapping. :sad2:

The food was pretty good. My favorite was the pork shank/sour kraut/mashed potato thing. Yum. All in all, this place is a lot of fun. Perfect for my b-day. Thanks Jenn! (She’s the one who convinced me to go there instead of Tutto.)

The band:

Us:
81409152.jpg

After dinner, my in-laws took Conner back to the room while the rest of us shopped at MouseGears. Now was the time to spend my gift card. Oh SHOOT! I left it in my purse, which was in the stroller, which was in the car with my in-laws. Oh well, I can still look! Kyle got himself a tee, a tie, and uh… oh! I got a vintage EPCOT shirt. I love that thing. Wore it yesterday.

Well, that ends the 18th. Up next: Sea Blah. I mean, Snore World. I mean, land of stinky sea creatures. Dang. Sea World – AKA “It’s not Disney. *pout*”

Merry Christmas everyone!

What is everyone doing to celebrate?

We're starting with an early dinner consisting of lasagna, salad, & bread. Then we'll head to church for the Christmas Eve service which starts at 5pm. Then we're going to head to a local light display that I hope is running, if not, we'll just drive around & look at other lights. Then we'll come home & watch Christmas Vacation & have a snack of summer sausage & cheese on crackers. Please post a Christmas photo in the next few days on here, I LOVE Christmas!:santa:

I’m gonna try to make this short. I lived it, but you all don’t have to suffer along.

So my MIL was insistent that we go do Sea World. Collin (who is Conner’s cousin & is 1 month older) LOVED the “Shay-moo Show” (gotta love my MIL) so obviously Conner would too. *insert eye roll here*

81909SW001.jpg

We got there right around park opening, and it was HOT. Super HOT. We headed to the dolphin/whale show.

On the way, the new rollercoaster was running:
81909SW002.jpg

Pics from the whale show:
81909SW012.jpg

81909SW024.jpg

Next we went to the penguin encounter:
81909SW026.jpg

81909SW037.jpg

this reminds me of “Happy Feet”

More stuff we saw:
81909SW045.jpg

81909SW051.jpg

Manatee Exhibit:
81909SW059.jpg

81909SW063.jpg

Ok, I did enjoy the manatee exhibit, so I’ll share more pics of it. It was way better than the one in EPCOT. Sorry. Just sayin’

81909SW065.jpg

81909SW067.jpg

Then we headed to the dolphin exhibit. The underground part is awesome, but above ground is HOT and very crowded.
81909SW069.jpg

81909SW072.jpg

Sorry about the image quality, the lighting is wonky & I didn’t want to use a flash.

The turtle exhibit was lame. I mean, they are such a neat animal, and to have a puny enclosure… *sigh*
81909SW088.jpg

I have on here that we saw the stingray exhibit. I barely remember it, so… yeah. I think it was there by the new roller coaster. I have notes that it was “ok on inside, not impressive on top”.
81909SW089.jpg

81909SW090.jpg

81909SW094.jpg

We then headed to meet the in-laws & Conner (did I mention that my parents didn’t join us? They didn’t.) Anyway, we met to go to the “Shay-moo” show together. There is a pretty nice baby station there in the park. Then again, I never used the ones in WDW, so I really have nothing to compare it to. At least it was cold inside & the restrooms were clean.

We walked to the Shamu show, I think it’s called “Believe”. It sprinkled a little, which just added to the humidity. I’m pretty sure I melted somewhere along the way to the arena.

I’m proud of Kyle for getting such awesome shots while I filmed the show:
81909SW098.jpg

81909SW101.jpg

81909SW121.jpg

Now it was time for lunch. We all had fish n chips & watermelon. Seems wrong to eat fish in Sea World, but I gotta say, the food was pretty dang good. Better than the fish ‘n chips I ate in the MK later in the week.

We then split up again. Conner & the in-laws went to see the dolphins, while Kyle & I went to see Pacific Point (seals) & the shark display. Both receive a resounding “Meh.” I’ve seen seals at La Jolla, CA & we have a Ripley’s Aquarium here in Myrtle Beach which I think has a better shark tank.
81909SW128.jpg

Final thoughts on Sea World: I doubt I’ll go back. In fact, the only reason I went was because my MIL wanted to go so bad & she bought the tickets. I remembered not liking the park when I was in high school, & things haven’t changed much.

On a happier note, when the TR continues, we’re talking FOOD! And good food at that! Kouzzina!

Just started reading your TR, your son is adorable!!! Have to ask, where are you going to nursing school. I used to live is SC and started out at Coastal Carolina U in Myrtle Beach then went to MUSC. I love SC and am missing it terribly right now with our 6 inches of snow!! Going back to read more about your trip.
