I read the article and here is my take on it.
DVC one-bedrooms sleep four. There is one king bed, and one pull-out sofa.
Now, I can understand if a casual disney visiter doesn't know this. And so maybe CRO told him wrong when he booked it. Maybe they didn't tell him the limit was four, or maybe they didn't tell him there was one bed and one sofa. It isn't clear from the article what the problem was, only that there wasn't enough space. Maybe he had four people, and two didn't want to split the sofa. Maybe he had more than four. It isn't clear.
So, he complained and they brought him an air mattress.
Well, that is pretty nice right there. Again, I don't expect the casual visiter to know the room configuration without being told (although if he'd looked a little bit on here it would have been easy to find, and a lot of newbies read those guide books and could have figured it out). But if I showed up for a one bedroom and had more then four I wouldn't expect them to give me an air mattress. Would you? But they gave one to this guy.
He is paying $300 a night for a one-bedroom, and that seems like a pretty good deal for four people. Again, I don't know if he had four or more than four, or what CRO told him about the room. It isn't clear from the article. But, hey, SSR was giving him the air mattress to anyway.
So he complains that the air mattress had 20 pillow cases and one sheet. Someone probably picked up the stack of pillow cases thinking it was a sheet, and it was a mistake. I'm sure they would have fixed it. Heck, they were bringing him the air mattress in the first place.
But he complained and they moved him to a two-bedroom. Well, that is very nice for $300 a night. And they gave him a $100 credit for the inconvenience of moving. Nice job, SSR.
Not bad at all. But he complained about SSR being under construction. Again, if he'd read a little bit more here that wouldn't have been a mystery. I haven't stayed at SSR, but I didn't realize that the construction of the new buildings took away any access to guest amenities. But he didn't like that the two-bedroom he was given for $300 a night because it was farther away. Guess what. It is a big resort.
So he complained when he got home and got a full refund.
So he stayed in a two-bedroom for free. And then he writes an article complaining about customer service. Holy cow.
