We will be in Disney from Dec 7th - 11th. My first choice was the Grand Floridian, but are unable to get anything. So, I have the Yacht club concierge reserved. Does anyone have any input on whether it is worth staying in concierge at the Yacht Club, how far it is from the lobby and any other advice or descriptions that you can give? Thanks so much!

Just want to bump you up. We are considering YC or BC for our spring break trip. I am curious about their concierge service also.

We are fans of GF, too. Just got back from an August GF RPC trip. LOVE that place. :wizard:

Maybe you could keep trying for the GF room that you want? Book a backup resort - but keep your eyes open for the GF. I actually booked our 2004 Thanksgiving trip to the GF RPC in the middle of October - I had been searching and searching daily and all of a sudden something opened up. Just wanted to give you a bit of hope that you may still get exactly what you want! There is still time. :flower:

Thanks Lives4Disney!

We also just got back from 3 nights at the Grand Floridian and 10 nights in the Beach Club Villas. I LOVE the Grand Floridian. This was our 4th time there, the first time not doing concierge there. I figured we did not need it since we were on the Dining Plan. It was WONDERFUL! After staying there I figured I definitely wanted to stay there in December, but nothing is available. But, like you said, I will keep trying. I was calling everyday while in Disney but have not tried since we got back. I really like the Beach Club also, probably better than the Yacht Club (I like the theming better). I would pick the Beach Club over the Yacht Club if I were you, but I do not know anything about either concierge. We cannot do the Beach Club since we have DVC points to use for this trip which cannot be used at this hotel.
Thanks again for your input!

We stayed at the YC concierge for our honeymoon and loved it!! We would do it again in a heartbeat. They got all our meal and spa reservations taken care of the first day we were there. The breakfast spread was fantastic and all the extras are so worth the $$. I felt that this was one of the most relaxed times we ever had at WDW do to the service. The hotel treats you like a king and queen when staying on that level. princess: You even get robes and small goodies in your room every night. :goodvibes And being so close to Epcot/MGM we loved just walking or riding the ferry. I would highly recommend the YC.

We stayed at the Yacht Club this past May for 8 days and it was one of the best trips in a long time. The concierge staff was tops, the lounge was always stocked with something to snack on or drink, the housekeeping staff did a great job daily but best of all was the pre planning office..ALANA took care of us and she did a GREAT job both before and during our stay. She has the real DISNEY SPIRIT.....

You are going to have a great time at the Yacht Club and the concierge staff will help make that happen.

Did you check availability in Sugarloaf? The building is full concierge now.

We stayed at the YC at the end of August of this year. Great for my kids, and for me when I wanted a glass of wine in the late afternoon. I was surprised at how limited it was compared to our experience at the BC in 2002, also in August. I was told that ALL the Concierges have identical choices now. Once reason for the limited selections that I was given was....people would literally eat dinner by means of Concierge offerrings on a rainy night, if they didn't want to go out. If you want more info on types of food, etc., email me at keeplaughing@optonline.net. I'd be happy to list everything. The basics were all there, but I do remember a feast back in 2002.....so just keep this in mind, when people rave about it, it is not the same anymore. I still would do it in a heartbeat....I have an 8yr old and a 9 yr old.

And in answer to how far it is from the lobby. The Concierge is on the 5th. floor. I asked for a room close to it, and we were actually given a handicapped room originally, which we switched. Too small (big bathroom). What we were given was actually a welcome surprise which you are not told about. We had one queen size bed, a chair that pulled out to a twin bed, and a daybed!!! There was also a curtain to separate the room, which we closed at night. The separate sleeping situation in our instance was "disney magic" in itself......The handicapped room had two queen beds, and a chair with an ottoman....and I had counted on at least a sofa for one child to sleep on.

I love YC concierge. The planning staff is the best on property! The lounge is smaller than some of the others yet it has never seemed overly crowded to me. It's also kept very neat and tidy. The staff also seems to go out of their way to make your stay a little extra special. I've not felt that in some of the other concierge stays. I think you will love it here.

The Disney resort concierges are definitely not created equal. If you are familiar with the GF, Poly or AKL concierge lounge, you will notice a difference. The YC lounge is much smaller, has very limited seating and their balcony overlooks the parking lot. It does only remain open during food service hours also, meaning that you can go in from 7am-10:30am, but from 10:30am-11am, the doors to the lounge will be closed. That's not a big deal for some people, while others like the availability of the extra space at all times.

I will have to say that the pre-planning staff is probably the best I've ever worked with. They are warm and friendly. I did have a few problems with the on site staff, so I'll reserve comment there.

As to distance from the main lobby, you simply enter the elevator banks that are a few feet from the lobby registration area and use your room key to access the 5th floor. When you get off the elevator, the concierge staff is sitting right there and the lounge is just around the corner. Our room was down two very long hallways, so it was quite a hike.

We are going to stay at the YC next summer. We have never stayed at the Y&BC before, so I have no idea how the concierge service is. But we always stay at the concierge level at the Poly and love it. However, we decided against the YC concierge for next year. The major reason is that there are so many restaurants to try within walking distance of the resort that I didin't think we would take advantage of the lounge and food offerings that much.

We where at YC concierge August 18 -25. It was the by far the best in the last three trips. The staff is always friendly , but Barbara and Becky where outstanding. The offerings where very good and there was a nice variety. It was record breaking heat so it was great to come back and get a drink, snack and a alittle rest. We where giving concierge one more try and we are glad we did. Now planning for next trip!

We were at the Yacht Club Conceirge also from 8-20/8-27 and I agree with the above poster, and I must also add that JeKay was great to deal with, we had a problem that he helped us out with.
