Can I get some input on how bad the crowds are during Memorial day weekend.... Is it better before or after the weekend?? Thanks so much!

It is definitely better before Memorial Day crowd wise. Once the holiday weekend hits the crowds start growing. Not that it is that bad the week after though. But as schools start to get out, crowds start to get heavier.

We have been to WDW many times in the 2 weeks around Memorial Day. We usually go to a water park on Memorial Day and the crowds have never been bad at all.

The worst crowds are usually the weekend before Memorial Day. It tends to slack back off Mon-Thurs, but really starts picking up the weekend after MD. We usually leave on the Friday after MD and the crowds are really picking up then. We notice LOTS of people checking into the hotels, and things are suddenly much more crowded than they have been for the last couple of weeks.

It's one of our favorite times to go as long as we're out of there by the following weekend.;)

Scrapper..

We are only planning a five night trip and working around our kids school schedules. What would you do based on your experience...

Arrive Tues and leave Sunday OF Memorial Day weekend

or

Arrive Friday of MD weekend and leave on Weds of the week right after MD.

I hate that we have to actually be there during MD weekend either way, but we were just there the week of the 4th of July and didn't find the crowds unbearable, so I am thinking this has got to be better than that... I am leaning towards going before the MD Monday. What do you think?? Thanks for any input!!

I am not the person whom you were asking.. but we have been this same timeframe the past few years. I would pick ~ Arrive Tues and leave Sunday of Memorial Day weekend

We were there this year the weekend prior to Memorial Day into the Memorial week. We saw a lot of local schools on field trips that week. We thought it was busy for the last week of May. I would choose the week leading up to the Memorial Day weekend instead.

Arrive Tues and leave Sunday OF Memorial Day weekend

Happy Planning! :)

Thanks Mom Poppins!! I am leaning that way because I think most of the school systems don't get out until after Memorial Day, plus it is cheaper in DVC Points than going in the summer!! Just didn't want Memorial Day to be crazy, crazy! I like getting out of there on Sunday of that holiday weekend because even if Saturday is crowded it will be at the end of our trip and we hopefully have done most of what we wanted mid week! Thanks for the input!

We don't get out here in North Texas until Memorial Day week. I noticed a lot of people there this year that time frame from La and down South the week of Memorial Day.

We had gotten our daughter out early but still did not beat the crowds. I homeschool 2 of our girls and 1 of them still loves public school she is in the 1st. grade, so it was not a big deal to take her out.

We are going in November this year.. I am not sure what to do about May again. I am leaning on going Spring Break which for us is the week of March 14th. Then we might turnaroun and go again the week leading up to Memorial Day(like you ).. One more trip on the AP's before they expire at the end of May.

:) Happy Planning!

LOL! You are doing what we are... Getting in as many trips on the AP as possible. We are also going in November. Arriving at WDW the Sat before Turkey day and actually leaving on Turkey Day. We have never been during this week but kids are getting older and we have to take advantage of pulling them out at a low academic time. The week of Thanksgiving is a good time at their school because they only have two half days that week. We know they just watch movies!! Anyways, we have gone the week before the week of Thanksgiving and it is AWESOME! Crowds are really low and some of the Christmas decorations are up. When are you going in November??

Since our AP's expire end of June we are trying to decide between around Memorial day or to wait until the kids get our completely from school here in MD on June 22nd. We will have 5 days left on our passes!:scared1: I would pull them from the last days of school, but my DD doesnt' want to miss her last day of elementary school :lmao:
